I have not checked out Nurgle in any great detail in 10th edition, but can it really be true that they can now carry 6 special weapons? I'm familiar with the old "for every 5 marines" rule, but according to the app, they can utilize that rule several times?

Do you mean Plague Marines?

The Champion can take a Plasma Gun, 1 in 5 can take either a Plasma/Melta/Plague Belcher, 1 in 5 can take Plague Spewer, and 1 in 5 can take a Blight Launcher.

Plague Marines yes.. According to the app, I can have 6 special weapons in a 10 man squad, just like you can see in the picture

So as I described above your squad could do the following:

Plague Champion - Plasma Gun
2 x Plague Marines with Plasma Guns/Melta Guns/Plague Belchers
2x Plague Marines with Plague Spewers
2x Plague Marines with Blight Launchers.
3x Plague Marines with Plague Boltguns

So it's 6 "special" weapons but it has to be in that combination. So for example, you couldn't do a unit with 7 Plasma Guns.

Weird.. I've never seen units being able to take so many special choices..

It's an extreme example of how the kit dictates the rules nowadays. Funnily enough between Dark Imperium, "Plague Marine Reinforcements", Plague Brethren and Space Marine heroes 3 there have been enough sculpts to allow any combination, but the rules want you to buy the 7 man squad and build it exactly as stated in the manual. Except that GW forgets every edition that there are 7 guys in there and not 5 and has to errata the option for 7 guys.

Just extreme in any length imo.. Last I played 40K, squads could take a special choice for every 5 in a squad.. So seeing 6 weapons in a squad just seems like insanity

Kind of. Plague Marines could take 2 specials+1Combi-weapon in 5 man squads since 4th edition . (These didn't double when you took 10 of course).
