Really this question could be "Was every Dark Angel a member of the Hexagrammaton back in the days of the Great Crusade" but the above is less wordy (and more relevant to me personally). Hopefully some more well informed folks on Dark Angels lore can shine a light on this because it isn't clear from what I've been able to read so far.

Namely, Deathwing, Ravenwing, Dreadwing, Firewing, Ironwing, and Stormwing.

Here's a reference:

It says they were specialized formations...so does that mean most Dark Angels were a part of it? Or were all Dark Angels a part of it?

And if not all Dark Angels were a part of it around the time of the Great Crusade, how many of them were on Caliban?

It isn't "fluff" - it's lore.

There would have been enough members of each Wing in a Company to ensure its tactics could be called upon in a given engagement.

Gotcha, but then that implies that not 100% of all Dark Angels were assigned a Wing? They were each only a different, specialized thing?

Not everyone needed to be part of a Wing. Each one is still a specialist Order remember.
Some Astartes will be permanently part of their given Wing such as the Companions or Interemptors.

Fair enough, thanks for the clarification. I've seen that mention of the wording of 'specialist' in lexicanum, I wonder where that might be elaborated on more or in other words...any sources you're aware of that might be good for that? I might have enough interest to go hunting lol.

The term is just used because that's what the Wings of the Hexagrammaton are, specialists.

Those of the Dreadwing were specialists dedicated to the most deadly and arcane weapons known to mankind.
Those of the Ironwing were masters of armoured warfare and overwhelming firepower.

Each Wing had tactics, weapons, and wargear that they understood beyond any of their Brothers and were scattered throughout the Legion to ensure that the correct tools and skills could be called upon for any engagement.

In a way, it was very similar to the idea of the Codex Astartes.
