What happened to the planned release of the plastic Super Mutants?

I haven't heard anything about their release date.

Likely November. All the plastics got delayed 12 months or so due to issues with details -- thus the change going forward in simplifying the sculpts.

From what was said in the stream, both the Super Mutant and Survivor boxes were having issues with a handful of parts not casting to the standard they want, so the sprues are being adjusted. They are still aiming for this year, they did say they were very close to being right, but I appreciate the transparency and the fact they want the quality to be bang on. The Brotherhood set is up for pre order next week, so things are still moving along, just a little slowed.

Getting away from the cards will be a huge relief - they were convenient at launch, but were overwhelming in number after a wave or two. There's just too much variety in gear and equipment in the source material to have a mini-Euro card for each one!

Honestly I'm probably done with the cards too. The location tables are a great solution to the wasteland deck and while I like making my heroic characters via cards I use the half sheet profiles for everything else nowdays. Assuming they're sticking with the half sheet profiles I'll be fine. But if they go with an infinity style system (which I left for FWW) where I have to have 50 pages bookmarked for every list due to all the item and ability rules I won't bother with the game.

Putting the random scenario generators into the base rules/mode of play is a great idea! The core box, despite the host of play options in the scenarios book, never gave a whole lot of direction on what to DO with the game. I don't really know how to explain it, since there were explanations and examples of everything in that book, but nothing seemed to tie it all together.

Same. I'm not sure if I was the one that stuck that in their heads but I've been suggesting that for about 2 years now.

Colored rulers to turn distances into symbol variants was another neat idea, but not paired with symbols for EVERYTHING. Stat and gear cards were just a riot of things you were expected to memorize or look up on a cheat sheet mid-game. That's fine for experienced gamers willing to put in the effort for one specific game devoted to one specific franchise...but an awful lot to ask of a new gamer brought in by the franchise, or an experienced gamer that's more of a multi-system generalist.

I like the colored rulers/distance. Very good economical use of design space. Plus I think tape measurers are stupid for a game and always make measurement sticks anyway. Having everything pre-color coded was a big time saver. Some of us on discord are still trying to get the colors kept for distance. They could have numbers and a color still for that convenance I think.

Effects die going away I'm not sure how I feel. I want to see Evie's solution to that. I do like all the dumb symbols on a die roll but I do agree equipment cards could be a massive pain to read. But moving away from the limited real estate of a mini-euro card you could keep the effect symbols from the dice and have more text to explain what's going on. And that latter still might be what they're doing.

The described change to the minis are too little, too late for me. More heroic scale will make for better wargaming minis (as opposed to tiny statuettes of the game assets). But I've long made peace with my preference for converting 28mm heroics that will fit in with my other post-apoc stuff over using Modiphius mins (other than power armor and Super Mutants, which actually scale okay with 28mm stuff).

They're not changing them really to heroic. It's basically the designs as they've been are too challenging/expensive to mold in hard plastic and the cause of all their delays. Bigger details are easier. So they're making things like 3-5% bigger proportion wise and going with how GW does details for equipment/clothing. Less realistic and more "heroic" interms of less detail with deeper definition. John even wanted to move to 40mm ala conquest/AMG but they're stilling to roughly 1:50-1:48 scale.

I'll keep a close eye on FO:WW 2e as more information comes out. I can be won over, I think. But, I've also invested a lot of money into cards, rules, and some minis for 1e; and I've never felt like I quite got the return on that investment. I think, at the core of my discontent, is that Modiphius is hampered by the license. I want a bit more freedom to make up my own Fallout, with my own wasteland, rather than play around in the Bethesda license sandbox. I dunno. We'll see what 2e shapes up to be.

I don't disagree with you there and I just kind of did that. Easy enough to take an existing profile to map onto an different model and make small adjustments. 2.0 having character creation that they'll support long term as the game expands though could go a long way for more of what I want to do with it.
