Been looking forward to that Spearhead releasing for the soulblight.

Those are both great spearheads.

Now heres the real question - do we expect a non FOMO spearhead for Helsmiths that mirrors the contents of the launch box?

Yeah there will be. The box makes a Spearhead, so whenever the full release is, they'll be a specific spearhead box to match it.

I hope this box will be a bit cheaper since it’s essential a spearhead, army book and cards. Older boxes had more models in them.

It's a bit cheaper than recent army box prices at $200 (£120, €155)

The Spearheads have the current price (which is due to rise in the price rises in October)

Nice, i'm very in for two now.

if theres an upcoming spearhead that will be identical, just without the codex and extra gubbins, I see no incentive to buy more than one box of it now.

When armies that have existing collections come out then its often not "too" hard to find people that just want the codex/battletome from a starter set when the set is newly launched.

However a brand new army, most people who want the battletome are going to get that box so the market who just want the book is going to be way smaller.


Plus most of the time when you price up the savings you basically get the book and gubbins for free so unless you want the models superfast you can just wait for the individual release and pick them up for the same cost and no hassle of having to find someone to buy the book/gubbins .

I’ll probably get the launch box, for gaks and giggles. Its something different to paint!

It will be a nice grab for people who didn’t get the launch box. Good value, especially since a chunk of it isn’t locked up in the character, as the wight king on foot is still priced reasonably. Of course, he’s so old he’s on a square base, with the instructions telling you to cut the rim off it and glue it to a 32. Sculpt still holds up well though.

A couple weekends ago I played both the old vampire SH and the new wight one in back to back games. The old one felt like it had better stats, but less fun tricks. The wight one engaged me better as a player, had a lot more fun.

£120 doesn’t offer a lot of saving; basically the cards are free

You don't know what the prices of the individual kits are yet. Plus there's the extra 20% you'll get from third parties.

Anyone up to date on GW release practices have an idea/guess when the Hobgrot kit will release?

I'm very excited for it and need to save to buy a couple boxes.

Well if all you're after is the Spearhead, you'd be better off waiting for the actual Spearhead box rather than the army box.

Even if you got the new edition box for soulblight, the new spearheads adds onto it very nicely

Yeah but individual kits also get the same 20% so its a moot point.

Also GW has started putting the limited edition battletomes into the starter sets which "technically" makes them more of a saving though honestly the limited battletomes were typically a ribbon and some gilt edging to the pages so not a massive difference over the regular book. Nice to have to be sure, but I tend to consider it just a battletome price since I'm not collecting limited edition books to store.

From how I’m reading it this isn’t an army box it’s a spearhead box with the codex and cards bundled in. Whether there is a different spearhead getting released remains to be seen.

Yeah, that was part of the rumor dump from someone over on TGA forum on pg 100. DaveC posted about the Ogor re-work and mentioned WHQ being Nurgle themed.
