LRL changes sounds interesting but I worry that the book keeping and mental load is going to get really irritating.

It feels like a mechanic designed by someone into video games in that its a bit more bookkeeping for a wargame.

Honestly I get the idea, but I'm not a big fan of things like that. It's like strategems in 40K in that its a whole other layer of things to memorise and remember and most of the time unless you play a lot or have a lot of time to keep double checking the list; you'll probably use the same set of choices each game.

I've often been told that the reason AoS features almost no unit or character customisation is precisely to avoid bookkeeping. So if this army mechanic is a sign that the game is pivoting into being more liberal with it, I'd rather see that capacity be used for the former instead, honestly.

The customisation is there, it's just called anvil of apotheosis. So this is an experiment, I'm curious to see how it's received.

I mean in the core gameplay, to be clear. AoA, in my experience, is unfortunately seen as a bit of narrative wildness, and isn't taken seriously in pickup games and even the smallest of tournaments (unless the tournament is deliberately setting out to be "wild", which unfortunately seems very rare).

Edit: AoA is great for what it is and I will talk no smack about it, but it's not what I was talking about in my prior post, to clarify.

Wanna see what's inside the new Tzeentch models? I've got high-res sprue images for both the new Fatemaster and Argent Shards faction terrain: https://taleofpainters.com/2026/02/review-disciples-of-tzeentch-fatemaster-argent-shards/

Just to confirm the Shards are "Designed in the UK, made in China" models as usual for faction terrain and endless spells.

Dagnammit. Dice were once again immediately sold out. I was looking forward to get some for Chaos in the Old World board game.

They and the book were scalped to hell. I was on there the second the site updated and both the dice and Thalia's book were already gone.

Is that common with aos books? Is Thalia's first book that good, is it because it has Helsmiths, etc.?

Or just scalpers scalping?

Most of the hardbacks tend to sell out within an hour or so, main and third parties. But this was particularly instant.

Apparently Tzaangor Enlightened on foot aren't in the new book and are branded for legends.

Is this the first time we see a unit be binned while GW seemingly has no plans of discontinuing its kit? Seems a bit petty to me, I imagine a lot of people would have put effort into those models and won't be happy to just rip up their bases and find them some new discs.

They don't sell an Enlightened on foot kit.

They sell an Enlightened on disks kit. This was a predictable move if you look at the Thousand Sons list.

Unsure what you mean. I am talking about this kit right here.
Spoiler:

This multipart plastic kit builds three Tzaangor Enlightened, elite melee units for your Thousand Sons armies in games of Warhammer 40,000, or your Disciples of Tzeentch armies in games of Warhammer Age of Sigmar. They ride to battle atop bizarre, bladed Discs of Tzeentch, giving them great speed with which to get stuck in as fast as possible. The kit includes parts to build an optional champion, and the gouts of flame that raise up the discs are interchangeable. The miniatures can alternatively be built on foot, or as Tzaangor Skyfires – an elite ranged unit armed with ornate bows.

Emphasis mine. This is as weird as if they just removed Skyfires but kept the Enlightened. Or if they squatted the Exalted Flamer, but kept the Burning Chariot. The closest thing to this I remember happening was when they squatted the Fluxmaster, but while that one can still be built from the Burning Chariot kit (and indeed has a slot in the disc there for solely that purpose), you do have to supply the base yourself. Not so with the Enlightened, the box has the bases you need.

I don't play Thousand Sons. Nor does that make this any better?

Enlightened on Foot are just the Enlightened on Discs, without their Discs. And Thousand Sons never had the unit on foot to begin with, so I'm not sure what point you think you're making.

That said, taking them on foot is only useful for shaving points.

Bolded part : First thing that comes to my mind is the short lived Bloodseeker Palanquin, which was an alt or some sort of partial build of the Coven Throne/Mortis engine.

Again, I don't play Thousand Sons, I don't know why they're relevant to Age of Sigmar.

And yes, they are without discs. That's what they are, yes. LIke how the Exalted Flamer is a Burning Chariot without a chariot.

Are you trying to suggest that the unit on foot was in some way not legitimate, and therefore their removal was good? I am not following. It's presented as an option on the website, and in prior battletomes. Is that not legitimacy?

Honestly impressed with that model - really awesome!

I am surprised that with the WE in Old World, GW haven't pushed for new Dryads for AoS, esp as I think they are the only old models left in the line (the tree men are from Old World, but end times so pretty new all told)

Annoying thing is they already have new Dryad designs in the Warcry warband. All they need is to design eight more and make the heads and arms interchangable and it's done.

So Boole has popped back up on TGA with some rumour updates

Skaven

Gutter Runners — they're absolutely decked out

Every single one's got their face covered up (gas masks, bandages, you name it), all draped in these massive black cloaks

Two of them really stand out:

· The Leader's lurking on a wooden plank from a collapsed building, weeping blade in his right hand, helmet on — straight-up giving off Deathmaster vibes
· Another one's rocking a skull helmet, hauling a green poison tank on his back, tubes running down to what look like katar(?) on both hands

The rest are no slouch either:

· Five with short blades (two of them dual-wielding)
· One with a bladed tonfa
· One lunging forward, holding two tekko kagi
· And there's this gas-mask guy — honestly no clue what weapon he's carrying

Oh, and they also come with two giant rats tokens — each token's a base with a couple of giant rats strapped with bombs on their backs

Night Runners — they're basically ninjas

No capes. Instead, they're decked out in full-body black bodysuits (hands and feet exposed though)
Two types of masks: one that just shows the eyes, and the classic Skaven mask (eyes and mouth exposed)

Their Leader's wearing a helmet, dual-wielding a Kusarigama — scythe on the left end, Meteor Hammer as the counterweight on the right

They've got a ton of weapon loadouts:
Both hands with Kusarigama like the Leader's, short blade in left hand + sling in right, just a sling in one hand, just a dagger in one hand, just a Shuriken in one hand, Shuriken in left + dagger in right, Nunchaku in one hand... you get the idea

And most of them, like the Gutter Runners, also have weapons strapped to their tails

Pretty clear they're a whole different thing from Gutter Runners
These guys are Shin Ninjas

Ogors

Ogors permanently losing their Mongolian flair

Tyrant getting a lot of builds

All Ogors ending up much, much bigger than rat Ogors

— they're still a ways off

Cities of Sigmar

Both war machines for the Battlemage and the Griffon are gone
Steam Tank's out too
And all the Aelves and Duardins, as well

But when you look at what you're getting —
Gate Gargants,
Cogforts,
Dawner's Triumph e

— they're coming soon enough

He's the one who had the Dark Water and Maggotkin info before it was revealed, the OBR Archers and chariot, a lot of the Ogor rumours are his and some other stuff I can't recall but he has a good track record he's sometimes not 100% in interpreting things but is usually close
