Now that every new marine is a Primarus, what are chapters doing with their too small armor?  [RSS] Share on facebook Share on Twitter Submit to Reddit

I doubt you could wedge a gen 2 marine into most of the older armors, so what do you think chapters are doing with all the old suits of armor?

The same could be said of all the weapons (grav guns) and vehicles that are being phased out.

Any thoughts?

They're hacking up their ancient relic armour, according to the Sanguinary Guard.

Some might keep parts of their old armour and integrate it but more likely it gets put in storage or on display in a reliquary.

As for vehicles? Eventually, they'll stop working or be destroyed and then replaced in the same way various patterns were lost after the Heresy ended.

It's really not that hard to put together unless you're like Lord_Damocles and still seethe about Primaris seven years later.

This is why I like Custodes, they are already perfect.

Honestly, the other in world thing that gets me is the Mechanicus endless search for STC technology. Too bad all that cool stuff they find is too small for your new marines.

OG/Real/TrueMarines were already perfect. Primaris are the step backwards.

Custodes are their own thing.

I like the look of most Primaris better than most Firstborn.
Their introduction was shaky, though.

You mean blatantly lifted from Star Wars: Episode II: Attack of the Clones?

I can understand that. Though I want to ask if that's a miniature proportion thing or just an overall design thing.

Design-wise I'm good with MkVI and VII.

Definitely better proportioned!
That’s the main bit. It’s also nice to see SOME practical(ish) looking units-some Marines should be over the top baroque and fashion, some shouldn’t.

I'm kinda glad that when other forces get redesigns they don't come up with arbitrary reasons of why they look different all of a sudden (cadians as a singular example)

Proportions I can understand. I may experiment with updated proportioned MkVII at some point as an experiment. Not that I'd replace my army though. Too many models I love in the original range, and they are scaled more appropriately with the vehicles of the same era.

Non-over the top baroque I don't get. Almost the entire range of mainline units were lacking in the garish over-detail that plagued special units like honour guard, Deathwing and other "special units". The only ones that bugged me with "over-detail" in the main range were the Sternguard and Vanguard, which you could just build with the "standard" units and put different weapons and markings on them (which is what I did).
