Tapping the Glass at the Herpetarium

I was reading some if the Legends rules, and felt a little glum over all the cool stuff that exists that no one ever plays with...

Which brings me to my point...

There are a lot of FW models out there, but I've never seen them in gameplay.

Has any seen anyone PLAY with or against any of these fantastic toys?

I have played against the Harridan once. I couldn't do anything against it as I didn't have enough heavy weapon to bear against it so it just slowly wiped my army out.

Good times.

I have a couple of Chinorks (one scratch built). Not hugely effective, but cool & fun.

I've also used a great many other things found on the Legends lists, be they FW pieces or otherwise.
In fact I make it a point to do so to A) show people that these things exist, B) because wether or not GW still sells them, I'm not done playing with my toys.

Playing HH as my main game kinda let's me cheat a bit.

A friend regularly used a Mastadon in their World Eaters list, and brings their Warhound out every couple of months.

Another played Knights some years ago with a Porphyron a few times as a test and has a Mechanicum army as well. They also have a Reaver Titan.

As for 40k stuff I've played against a Harridan loads of times until 8th made us lose interest in 40k.

Of all those, I've only played against the Brass scorpion and the Warhound Titan. Both games were back in 7th edition though.

I've got what I believe used to be called a Lesser Brass Scorpion, which appears to have been kit-bashed out of a pair of Defilers. As that no longer has rules I have used it once or twice as a Greater Brass Scorpion.

I think the last time I used it, my mate was running a Guard tank army at the time. Scorpy fell to his Shadowsword and Russes, and the ensuing explosion took out the rest of my army. Great game!

Of those listed, I've played against Warhounds, Reavers, snd the Custodes Gunship. I believe I was in a game with a Phantom or two at a convention in a on-the-floor Titan game in the days of Armorcast, but it's a pretty foggy memory now. My clearest memory about it was a public announcement by someone that princess Diana had died.

Mars Pattern Warhound Titan - chaos nurgle variant in a couple of apoc games. I've only seen the Lucius in papercraft form.

Mechanicum Krios Battle Tank - not played against but have one on the shelf alongside a Macrocarid Explorator.

Arvus Lighter - popped up once or twice in early 6th as a sisters of battle flier. IIRC their other flying transport the Aquila lander had already gone OOP at that point.

A lot of proxies but not the actual model. Though i've seen a few obscure-ish forgeworld models on the table like the old gorgon, towed artillery, and some of the smaller aircraft. Mostly out of my price range back in the day though.

No, but I have seen it used to deliver repentia / henchmen units from the sisters white dwarf codex in 6th.

It was originally a slow moving, lightly armored, unarmed, expensive box.

I won one (built and painted) brought it a mega battle and tried to get people to shoot at it.

...no one ever did.
