The Valkyrie wings slide in and out with no issues, very well engineered but no other flier seems to have that.

The Dakka Jets need magnets for the wings to stay in, and I don't think anyone else is even close.

Definitely GW missing a trick they were once good at.

Flyers are not horrible if you don’t glue them onto their flight stands. And those are set up so they dry-fit pretty snug. That said, they still take up a disproportionate amount of space in the case.

The space was what I was referring to. The wings eat up so much room.

No argument, they do that.

Pretty much anything on a flight stand/stem is horrid to transport. Even if you are sensible to don’t glue them. But for ones where they need to be glued (like the new curved ones the primaris use) it’s way worse

The worst model I ever loved to hate wasn't a problem to transport, it was a pain to play. The Bretonnian BSB where they stick a 10 pound weight 4 feet above a 20x20 base (I exaggerate) and expect it to not fall over if you look at it sideways.

You can put two valkyries back to back and they fit into a standard battlefoam box (if you don't have the pointy auspex or glue in the base/stem). However I they still suffered some damage ironically enough on a flight.

Yeah, and that's pretty poor "performance" for a couple-few hundred points. One whole tray. And you can't add some bits. Meanwhile you can fit what four Russ tanks? More? Realistically the answer is (probably) pre-supported magnetization so storing wings and fuselage are not glued together. Truth be told, that's probably the direction GW should already be going with the rate their plastic is inflating. Give us all the pieces to make all three Gladiator variants, mold in the necessary magnet pockets, and include the magnets in a baggie. But that's a different discussion.

I think FW, and know some FW derived plastics are more magnet friendly. The plastic contemptor dreads have spots in their arm joins specifically made for 4mm magnets, no drilling required.

The old small peg flight stands had pegs/holes exactly 2mm. All my jetbikes and gargoyles have magnetized stems/bases for easy transport.

Magnets have a place not just in swapping gear/variant options for game play, but also getting models to the game store.

GW’s been focusing on form over function a lot recently. It would be nice to see some thought applied to models as game pieces. Not just little jewel like wonders.
