Tabletop Workshop is a UK company specializing in Medieval 28mm plastic terrain. They're similar to what Renedra does and should be easy to greeble into sci-fi and fantasy terrain.
Not sure how long they've been around, the first I saw of them was today and I'm interested.

Prices are pretty good too (esp if you're used to GW pricing), stand alone buildings and build a castle sets.

I have their round tower. Be warned that they are true 28mm scale, and look a bit small for fantasy gaming

They were around some years ago and then faded away, not exactly how, though perhaps someone else knows. They appear to be back with a new square tower. Mind you I still have a castle set in a box from Northstar a few years ago.

Hopefully they'll expand what's on offer. Both the square and round tower are modular but I don't think they sell separate floors for them to build them up.
I don't know what shipping to the US looks like or if they have a distributor but I might be interested in some stuff.
Separate floors would definitely seal the deal for me

This is Wise. Gamers love their modularity and building things their own way. They'd certainly sell.

I may have to dig mine out and revisit, but my issue was with how thin the walls end up being if you use the interior. I know many won't care, but for me having a tower whose walls would effectively be only a few inches thick puts me off. That said its really only an issue if playing something like LotR or RPGs etc. For something using blocks of infantry and just the exterior you could make some pretty impressive fortresses. I had plans around using the Renedra sets to do a square towered inner keep with Tabletop round towers and walls for the outer walls, but never got around to it before deciding that saving up for a 3d printer would be a better way to go.

Are you saying the walls are too thin to be properly in scale, or that they're too thin to hold up the model? I get the first issue but would not be bothered, but if it's a stability issue that would be bad.
I do like that their buildings and towers have interiors, I like Renedra but their big square tower is only detailed on one side.
The two product lines have a lot of overlap so if you're thinking of one, check out the other too.

Maybe one of them can make some nice modular stone ruins after Renedra's were so disappointing.

Just to thin to be properly in scale. I'm sure structurally they are sound, but I want walls that are thick enough to be at least appropriately in scale with historical castle thicknesses. And yes, I know I'm weird for it.

Been Around the Block

I had to scroll back nine years to find my painted chapel:
The interior detail is a little flat but it does the job (I added the shield and I think probably the skulls)
It helps if the two sides of the roof are glued but otherwise they are nice and sturdy without glue and easy to break down for storage. It’s also handy that you can reassemble them without a wall to use as a photo backdrop.
(Hope I got around to painting that skull!)
I also have a cottage and a townhouse but never tried the castle kits. They are a little plain but do their job nicely. Anyway nine years! Didn’t the kits end up with Warlord or Renedra for a time? I have no idea why they went with the ‘1970’s product for schools’ packaging vibe, that always felt like a misstep.

are these new, I could have sworn these came out at the same time as the Renedra castle?

it's the quiet ones you have to look out for. Their the ones that change the world, the loud ones just take the credit for it. |

They did, then they went away, and now they appear to be back.

Northstar was just talking about this farm animal sprue from them being new (possibly just to Northstar). https://www.northstarfigures.com/prod.php?prod=19202 can't find it for sale anywhere else outside of NS or direct. Their third FB post is basically that.
So the Tabletop Workshop buildings and castles are back under new ownership ...plans to extend the range watch this space

Some loudmouth on Facebook was demanding interior pictures and they posted one. Looks good, though I can see the issue about the wall thickness and scale.

The animal sprue is a rerelease. Warlord Games used to sell the exact same sprue. I bought mine around six years ago directly from Warlord's webstore.

It's something I could fix to sooth my OCD with some textured foam or plasticard (I still have some from when I was looking at using the round towers). But I think at this point I'll just look at getting a 3d fdm printer.
Still, looks good for something like Old World (assuming they still have siege rules) as the y'old Warhammer Fortress I wanted back as a kid didn't even have any interior at all.

I wonder if with Paul Sawyer's passing Warlord is looking at shedding some of it's more fringe bits. (The animal sprue fits the period of their main ranges but probably isn't that relevant to large scale war games, and they don't make any of their own medieval 28mm models).

I can see it too, but really if you want to have useful interiors, in buildings that already have a compressed footprint, with figures on bases, every inch counts. An long as there is adequate interior texture, the thinner the walls the better.
