MASSIVE PICS UPDATE !

finally managed to take a few decent pictures of the finished Land Raider Reclamator, it was a blast to build, a bitch to paint and it's glorious once finished ! well almost.. there are a few touch ups left to do here and there, must have missed a purity seal or two and some refractions details on a few lens as well but it's done for now !

next project has to be the salvation squad per se, had started a while ago some converted scout squad that would be perfect for the job.

and then may be the remnants of an uncorrupted sothan auxilliary squad. .

might be on a holliday break though so will do my best !

until then, see ya !

ps : the pics seem blurry on the forum but are nice and clean on the gallery so do click on them for a better quality

Hi all !

I am home for a few days before moving again for the holidays,
While it was nice to take a break from the hobby I have been itching to get my hands on new projects and minis..
But the again I remembered I had a project of doing a salvation squad and/or a scout squad that I already started a long time ago and stumbled upon an old land speeder..
I had seen converted land speeder storm on dakka years ago and it has been stuck in my mind ever since ! While the op had a full on tutorial on how to do it I prefer to keep it as an inspiration and try and do something more akin to my previous conversions!

Bear in mind I just started hacking things up and it may take a while to make it look decent but this blog is still alive !

Take care all and see you all again soon !

OMG that Land Raider
That's some Rogue Trader-esque chaotic artwork. Everywhere you look, there's more details to enjoy. Well done for committing to getting that done. And thanks for posting so many pics, it's a joy to pore over.

Glorious is the right word for that Land Raider.

It definitely reminds me of the kind of project that would get a spotlight in an old White Dwarf with a double page spread of detail photos. Almost feels like a Where's Wally challenge - the character and weathering are top notch.

Great work!

That's way too kind thank you very much !
I do remember growing up with those and just drooling on the pages !
Thank you again ! I do have to get back to it at some point and work a bit more on the edgehighlight for the parts to pop a bit more.. they all seem to blend together in this orkish abomination ahah !

Some updates on the speeder,
Very rough at the moment, started the tedious work of putting up plates of armour around with some miliput.
Worked a bit on the rear as well, early WIP mind you. But I wanted some guns to blast the ground allowing the scouts to secure an objective or get the hell out of one ! We'll see how it turns out !

Hope you guys like it so far, thanks for bearing with me ahaha

Tonight's update on the speeder, small one but still, I'm committed!

Decided to go rough for now and secure and clean everything after wards with some miliput and green stuff. But you get the idea, worked on the bottom and rear end mostly.
C&C are more than welcome!
See ya !

Hi there !

Really small update tonight, had lots of idea, even had a bit of time in front of me but then I run out of glue .. again.

So I've been scavenging through my bits box to find some interesting pieces and managed to find quite a few to play around with.

It might be a bit controversial to start to glue some rough bits like so before cleaning it up a little bit but it goes well with my narrative of ad-hoc modification with blasted part directly from the battlefield or salvage mission..
That and also because I couldn't plan anything upfront for the life of me.. so yeah, the bits I find running through my bits box direct the flow of the conversion.

This is where the glue god decided to abandon me after just one side of scavenged antigrav plates !

This will be my 40k rendition of bob the builder, now sgt of the 13th salvation squad

You can still hear CCR in the 41st millennium and love the smell of promethium in the morning I guess !

That's all for the day, again it's still an early WIP ! Stay tuned

Hi all,
Sorry for the lack of updates, personal life is a bit hectic at the moment but hey, that's life.

I have been forced back once more into the hobby with the combat patrol magazine! First issue arrived few days ago at home as I completely forgot that I had pre ordered the thing.. long story short I'm being side tracked again and left the speeder to collect some dust on my desk all the while wondering what could I possibly do with another terminator captain ?

Well, lore wise I'm already overstretching with my command squad so I could possibly do a chaplain or even a tech marine.
But then I remembered slaughter at giant's coffin and decided to go back to an old idea of mine..

Here's the first pics of my WIP diorama of (former) chapter master Mansirius Thorcyra's fall on Miral.
- and also a nice way of using some old monopose first born terminators that have been collecting dust for a decade now-

It should look something like this but then again, it can also look completely different once finished so bear with me and hope you'll like it !

Thank you all and take care !

Thank you guys! Will be working on it tonight and post some pictures along the way !

Did some work on the loadout,
Thorcyra will need heavy green stuff work in order for him to look decent, picture him wielding a massive two handed scythe instead of the sword.

Will likely sculpt some side crest on the discarded dantioch's skull mask as well.

As for the two standing honour guard don't know yet if I'm pleased with their gear, some ornaments will be added along the way once I'm satisfied with their kit but don't know if I should give them scythes as well as it is stated in the novel.. what do you guys think ?

Added some details onto the base as well and tried to move the lictor around for dynamism, though I think I liked it better when it was striking from behind the column. Any preferences ?

And then some sculpting work will be needed on Dave, the dead honour guard, but we don't speak about Dave, he's no longer worthy of praise or attention ever since he was bodied without any resistance by a giant mantis.

That's all for tonight, I'm dreading the moment where I will have to start sculpting with miliput and green stuff so feel free to share any tips or ideas !

Finally got around to do a little bit of sculpting on Thorcyra's honour guard.
I wanted to differentiate them from my command squad. Technically speaking they should have proper ornate and functioning full suit of terminator armour and no reason whatsoever to have a bunch of trophies since they weren't there during the fall of Sotha.
So proper vintage power claws for the lad and since you can't ever have enough chains word I kept the chain fist blade.

A nice crest to denote status and a bunch of rags that used to be a proper cloak that I might still sculpt later on .. technically fitting for some handpicked veteran.

I might put some detail work on the front as well but then again if he stands out too much I'm afraid it'll draw the eye away from the whole piece.. gonna let this fellow sit a while and work on the other one I guess but in the meantime C&C are more than welcome, and advices or ideas ! Feel free to share them !
