Evening Sarp, sounds like you’ve had a tough start to the year, I know how difficult it can be as I’ve just been through that myself. I find the models are an easy thing to help clear my head and get some personal time, once everything else is done. Hope all is going well.

The dreadnought is turning into a thing of beauty, the claws and spear/poleaxe are both great and suit the model really well. Very interested to see how you are going to paint it.

I like the idea around the Sothan, very 40k, running in to battle with a gun and shield Spartan style. Your first test model looks good and bodes well for the rest of the army!

I'm sorry to hear that but I'm glad you're managing to find peace as well ! Very thoughtful of you to connect on this matter as well, thank you. I wish you all the best as well and hope for things to get better soon !

Thank you for the kind words ! I have absolutely no idea when or how I'm going to do that I managed to power through and got sidetracked again but I'll be sure to post some WIP pics and some completed - if ever- as well ! Thank you for the interest.

Yeah ! And I have some more savage one to represent the Mirali/ Thracian peltasts. They were supposed to be more like a kill team or a big scout squad but now that you mention it.. I could probably add some more and field a decent force

Take care !

Well not sure how I feel about the Tyranid mutilation on display here...

Just kidding of course, the dread looks awesome! Agree with the comment about asymmetric shoulders though, doing the right shoulder differently - personally I'd perhaps be inclined to have something less full-on, with more space / open armour to allow for the chapter icon or some heraldry on the right shoulder? But the cloth on the left works well and the whole dread is so cool.

Really nice work, can't wait to see it painted!

Got words from the forgemaster himself ! ( Forgemaster Sebastian of www.the-scythes.com)
he's excited about the project and it gave me a nice push to actually do something about it .

finally completed the build of the first sotharan auxilliary. the pose itself is a bit wonky but that's blue tack for you i guess. and i'm not entirely sold on the charging pose either so I might change that after slapping some paint on it. he's currently sub assembled and ready to be primed so last sneak pic before some black and yellow action !

it inspired me to work a little bit on his Mirali counter part as well, nowhere near the same level of completion but then again I like the more savage approach of surviving death worlders aspirant. no need to over techify them I guess ?

i'll add some greenstuff here and there in order to clean everything out and probably add some trophies here and there but a 10 gauge shotgun is a clear enough message for any wandering space bug I guess ?

hope you'll like the updates, got a few thing to sort out but hopefully i'll have some hobby time cleared soon.

see ya'

it has become tradition, it's art you see !

Thank you very much for your hindsight, i'll go back to it soon enough and I'll take all of this into consideration for sure ! it was once again way too ambitious for me to start such a project before being able to actually commit to it fully

thank you for the kind words and keep your amazing work going !

Hi there !

Managed to find some time and focused on the Sothan 1st sarge.
there's still work to be done but i'm quite pleased how he turned out in the end.

i'm still getting used to the smaller format, it really is less forgiving but i don't think i've completely butchered it either ! so that's a win

i'll probably work up to the same standard on the Mirali Patriarch and then complete them as best as i can before moving on to their respective squads.
as they will need some sculpting to fit the 40K aesthetics i'll probably get sidetracked again and work on the dread as well !
thank you for bearing with me with my chaotics updates, i'll do my best to be as consistent as possible !
take care !

Thank you very much Ragsta ! Your kind words and joviality always bring a smile to my face !
Well chaotic life has its ups and downs I guess. I had to wait for my ex to come home to walk the dog last night since the kid was already asleep and I'm not one to leave children unsupervised. I didn't feel like doing anything really but i had no clue when she would be back either so I figured i'd paint. 6 hours later there's another dude on the desk !

here's the Mirali patriarch, hope you'll like him.
(of course my sleep deprived dumb didn't check the fitting of the cloak on the base, so instead of facing the dead nid with contempt he's not even acknowledging its presence. cool guys don't look at dead bugs and all )

bonus pic with Sothan and Scythe overlord.

Take care !

ps : Of course i had to get sidetracked again and figured you'll need a proper overseer for the auxilia.. and I had a phobos lieutenant laying around.. so yeah another project added to the pile ! bionics, power falx, cool cloak and dead tyranids on the way !

see ya'

Hi all,
Following my latest statement I decided that former lt. Bob the builder is no longer canon, he has been elevated to reclusiarch and was strongly advised to change his name. - for copyright infringement reasons mostly -
Indeed it seemed fitting for a chaplain to lead a bunch of disparate survivors and potential aspirants. And retrieve and hoard relics in his spare time I guess ?

And so rose Sarpedon Lychiadonos, reclusiarch of the Scythes of the Emperor.

For those interested Sarpedon of Lycia fought the Greeks during the Trojan War
And was an all around good guy for the standard of those times. When slain by Patroclus his boody was saved by Apollo and carried away to safety in Lycia by Thanatos and Hypnos.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sarpedon_(Trojan_War_hero)
How cool is that ? The scene by Johann Heinrich Füssli
Spoiler:

I'll work a bit more on him, mostly because he needs a cloak and to clean his bionic leg ! I might even add more pics later on, who knows really ?

'Till then, see ya' !

I was never meant to follow in Hornidal's footsteps, that honour was for Demetrios. But what you ask of me is even more unconventional..
I understand what is at stake here, captain, don't get me wrong, but tell me what lore can we pass onto our wards ? what relic might they gaze upon in remembrance of our might ?
what is even the purpose here ? I should be amongst my brothers, chanting litanies of vengeance while we hunt our hated foe. God-Emperor knows they have need of me in the battle company..
instead you ask me to babysit savages aspirant while we struggle to harvest enough geneseed. To honour the sacrifice of those who could have easily be corrupted and instigated the fall of noble Sotha ? The very same that chose not to be counted amongst us ? and those that we didn't find suitable then ? why are they even among us now is beyond me..
You ask me to scavenge everything that could pass as relic and promote me to Reclusiarch while we don't even have a Reclusiam anymore ? Tell me captain, did Thracian put you up to this ?
-Sarpedon Lychiadonos, now Reclusiarch of the Scythes of the Emperor.

In case you didn't notice I always like the duality of the surviving Scythes. The idea that they are bound to do the emperor's works while still feeling the futility of it ever since the fall of their homeworld. the survivors' guilt always gnawing at them leading them always deeper in their quest for vengeance and annihilation .

Got a light box ! while i'm still getting used to it, the pics are noticeably better ? or I do try to convince myself ahah.
a little bit more work is needed, some shadings here and there, some details but by now you must be acquainted with my unfinished work
here goes, hope you'll like him

his armour blacker than the rest to emphasize the chaplaincy but it's barely noticeable with the white lightning of the light box you'll have to take my word for it until i do a comparative shot !
till then,
see ya'

PS : it's official, my leviathan set is completed, this was the LT in phobos armour !

Hi all,
I cancelled my Combat Patrol subscription because I have too much on my hands already, but of course the last issue was already on my way..
So I got a chaplain on bike with beautiful bitz that i could have used last week !
and a lovely company champion . I feel like I already have too many individual characters oozing charisma but it was a sweet excuse to get sidetracked again !

the model in itself is already nice but I had to pimp him a bit. he would have stood out too much by being too generic I guess ?
I haven't done much really, replaced the sword with a custom tyranid Rhomphaia, a cloak I had laying around, an old bolter and some bits on the helm. It works well and i'm sure it'll look better with some paint on it.
i'll have to work a little bit on the cloak so it can rest over the shoulders but not much green needed all things considered.
hope you'll like the results !

see ya !

Evening, hope life is treating you well. That chaplain is great, so much character and really enjoy the background blurb you have along side it. The flowing yellow parachment and blue detailling really works to bring him to life, as they are normally a little dark and foreboding!

The combat patrol series was good, but like you I’m about to pull the plug on it as well, I’ve hung on a little longer (and we are a few more magazines down the line) but I feel there is no need to add more to the pile of shame!

I like what you have done with the champion, that is a big old sword and the shield is a nice touch! I’ve used mine as an extra body to supplement my Victrix guard - he got upgraded from a company champion to the victrix champion instead. But he fits in nicely with the rest of them.

Hello there JordySteve !
Thank you very much for the kind words and hindsights ! Life is still quite chaotic to be honest with you but that's just the way it is I guess !

Yeah quite happy with how he turned out, I should probably add some shades on the parchment though, as they feel a bit flat.

Yeah I guess, I mean it feels like I kinda bought two leviathan box, was happy , allowed me to convert some guys and get loads of Tyranids bits. But like you, while I initially wanted to get some chaos or guards and genestealaers, I don't see the point now either.

Cheers ! Yeah I did something similar with the internus, upgraded to tyrannic war veterans and the special sergeant got the same treatment, I was pleased with that.
I don't know if I'll get him some buddy in the future or nah tbh

Thank you for stopping by ! Keep the amazing work, your ultras always look amazing!

I love the blade on that latest champion. His stance is very convincing too. But that Reclusiarch is spouting some right heresy!! Their losses to the Tyranids is blinding them!!
