Sadly it looks like Middle-Earth is being given a miss yet again. Sigh. At least we've gotten some new models, but there's still some characters from War of the Rohirrim yet to be revealed (Frealaf, Olwyn, non-Wrath Helm).

Well, my first thought was racing equipment/head protection. But of course, could be part of a space suit as well.

Be fair, there's a lot been released and more that hasn't come and unannounced stuff we know that's coming. I'm more surprised by a lack of necromunda. That's been dead since the last resin dump.

The Daughter's of Khaine are odd.
Lore wise they occupy one of the smallest regions of any faction and yet their weight story wise is one of the greater impacts on the larger narrative in general.
What's odd is that their model range is actually quite small considering how much attention GW puts on them. I feel like GW has been battling an internal "lets just put them back into Dark Elves" and they "half" got there with the expansion book that did just that. However I feel that GW put so much into DoK that core DoK player don't want them to become a sub-part of a larger army.
Meanwhile they really only represent an elite corner of the whole Dark Elf army. Ergo you can take them out of the DE and still have a very functional DE left.
I think there's also the fact that the whole DE end of the model line is just so unknown that I think many hold off investing into them for fear that GW will remove them. Either entirely or into Old World (go rebase everything like the Beastmen players)

DoK is just a great narrative tool though. They are allied to the good guys, but totally unpredictable and everybody knows they have an agenda of their own.
Its a villain that the good guys accept because they appear to mave minor influence and power, and yet they can easily mess upp the plans of their allies if they feel like it.

Very much agreed - I just really want to see GW flesh them out to an army as diverse as Skaven/Seraphon/Stormcast/Chaos etc. I'd love to see more witch units like a cavalry; shadow beasts; a monster or or two. Some artillery units would be neat to see as well.
Even a new Cauldron which sparks a bunch of new separate heroes and a separate Khaine animated statue (though these days it would likely be animated Morathi statue) etc....

I'm sure she would, but unless there's been some developments I missed, her territory in Ulgu was granted to her by Malerion.
Overread wrote:Very much agreed - I just really want to see GW flesh them out to an army as diverse as Skaven/Seraphon/Stormcast/Chaos etc.
That would require GW to essentially reinstate the Dark Elves in AoS, because DoK are already a planet of hats faction with Witch Elves, Snake Witch Elves, Flying Witch Elves, Witch Elves but MORE METAL, Witch Elves in a Pimp Wagon, Witch Elves in a Different Pimp Wagon, etc, you get the point. Practically all factions split out of their core WFB roster suffer from this issue. Hell, most new factions are one design stretched over too much plastic.
There's been some consolidation going on, and some factions are starting to get back to WFB style variety, but I'm not sure if it's a conscious effort from GW or just sales data talking.

Still stumped by what the jester hat could be referring to if Valrak's right on Necrons vs Deathwatch for Kill Team. I can't see a Harlequin release for 40K when they've already done the Eldar codex...
I honestly cannot remember the specifics but back in the 90s I do remember an orc in a jester-like costume...or was it a goblin? Have courage, ZergSmasher!
Lief has already been announced so I'm guessing they announce something else soon. Possibly later in the week, so that the following week they focus on the big preview show.

You are remembering Gubbinz the Goblin Jester from the Lair of the Orc Lord add-on for Warhammer Quest. He'll like show up on Warhammer TV this week if the Sunday preview is accurate.
As for the jester hat, if the hats aren't all just a reference to Chaos Dwarves (what Warhammer faction do you think of when I say hats?), then it has to be some sort of Harlequin reference. Maybe there is a kill team coming for them, maybe they're getting a special character for Warhammer+, maybe a joy-toy collectible solitaire is coming soon. It doesn't have to be a full army, it can just be a set of stickers and GW will hype it all the same.

Yeah, I think the hats were really meant as a Chaos Dwarf reference and only a chaos dwarf reference? I think folks have read into it a bit too much assuming that these are *all* references to something to be previewed.

Does GWS have plans for any releases in the near future Necromunda?

Unless I misremember Flesheater Courts are coming up. Might be a reference to them, because court jester. Maybe they'll even get an actual court jester.

A FEC Jester unit (or at least a jester as one member) as part of an Underworlds Warband also doesn't seem outside of the realms of possibility.

Nothing announced. However, there’s still Noble House crews and various Dramatis Personae that need some models.

Also wouldn't be a stretch to think that Enforcers might be getting their own book treatment in the same manner as Squats/Ash Waste Raiders. One of the recent teasers might be a hint towards that. Whether that extends to other gangs in a similar position (Corpse Grinders?), who can say? Even a single book dedicated to the various cults to bring their lists in line with the current structure would be very welcome.

Yes, I think that might be the one. That said...wasn't there a dangerously overloaded 40K ork weapon that called for one ork to be singled out to use it - because it was essentially suicidal - and they had them dressed up as a jester to make fun of them?
I think it might be the mind playing tricks on me now...
