Weathered - Rust and Dust! Mud and Blood! We want to see the dirtiest, nastiest model put on a base. Practice those weathering skills. None of that parade ground clean, spit and polish stuff. Revel in the filth, play in the dirt, show some wear, tear, and decay.

Ambitious - Raw recruits looking to prove themselves, earn their gang colors or the respect of their battle-brothers, captains determined to stamp their mark on history with a glorious victory - or secure a promotion by shanking their boss the moment their back's turned, that sort of thing. Models should have the drive to overcome all obstacles. Raising starts with no end in sight.

Payback Time! - People who live for vengeance, units whose specialty is counterattack or just ones with an inordinate amount of firepower. If its response is loud and clear, it fits the theme. Entries should be out for retribution. Reserves ready to strike back, mooks out to even the score. Time to even out the books.

Futures of days past - Retro sci-fi. The concept is doing something that was futuristic 20-100 years ago. Rockets to the moon, tripod walkers, sci-fi/post apocalyptical stuff set in the distant year 2000. Raypunk, TOS Star Trek, Fallout. Any sci-fi film in black and white. Time to paint yesterday’s tomorrow, today!

Poll will run 2 days.

Wales: Where the Men are Men and the sheep are Scared.

Got bunch of tanks I need to paint and a bunch of basic troopers looking to prove themselves on the battle field so botth would work for me.

Mostly, on my phone.

Went for Payback, but that or Ambitious work for the power of dark side i suppose.

I voted for Ambitious but could probably make something work for any of them.

Weathered: Most Kruleboyz stuff should work for this; they literally live in swamps and should be covered in grime.

Ambitious: I've got lots of stuff for this one, but I'm thinking maybe I could paint up another Tomb King. Those guys are always trying to demonstrate their power.

Payback Time!: The Kin of the Leagues of Votann famously hold grudges (like most dwarves) so just about anything of theirs should fit.

Futures of days past: This one would be trickier, but I do have a few scale model kits that might work (including the Starship Enterprise and a Cylon Raider from the classic Battlestar Galactica).

My armies (re-counted and updated on 11/7/24, including modeled wargear options):
Dark Angels: ~16000 Astra Militarum: ~1200 | Imperial Knights: ~2300 | Leagues of Votann: ~1300 | Tyranids: ~3400 | Stormcast Eternals: ~5000 | Kruleboyz: ~3500 | Lumineth Realm-Lords: ~700
Check out my P&M Blogs: ZergSmasher's P&M Blog | Imperial Knights blog | Board Games blog | Total models painted in 2024: 40 | Total models painted in 2025: 25 | Current main painting project: Tomb Kings

As the one who suggested it I had to vote for Payback Time, of course. But it shouldn't be hard to find something for any of these.

Not going to be painting any weathered Eldar... so I went for Payback to finally paint some Dark Reapers. Though I have absolutely nothing to paint for it, I'd really love to see Futures of Days Past win, just to see the stuff people would come up with! Or, hmmm... do Exodites fit for that?

I don’t generally do weathering, so that’s going to be rough for me. I’ve got the free mini of the month Khorne guy who might get a bit of blood splashed around.

The others I’m sure I can scrape something together, but none are easy picks.

I’d love to see retro futures win, but it’s way behind. Had my fingers crossed it would do better. Oh well.

I voted for Futures of Days Past, but I’m sure I can weather something instead.

I guess I'll have to find something to weather...

EDIT: maybe I'll be a snarky brat and do something weather-related like a model in a rainslicker with an umbrella

Bad model-based puns on the topic are always acceptable. Encouraged even!

Ooh, that's a good idea! Maybe I can finish off converting my female wizards and do a grey wizard? They're associated with weather magic.
