I have both the original and the new Saturnine boxes. I've assembled nothing.

Can I just assemble everything as Imperial Fists and just paint everything yellow? I don't see any reason why not.

Why on worth would you not be able to? Do it!

I keep hearing how units have changed between editions so I wasn’t sure if the models from the original box were still usable.

What if we made a truly open source wargame? https://warhorsegames.com

They are perfectly usable, with 2 caveats;
1. Tacticals no longer have access to either Chainswords or Close Combat Weapons. However you can always use counts-as for a bayonet profile.
2. The Mk4 models are noticeably shorter than the more recent kits and will look slightly odd next to their big brothers, especially the Saturnine Terminators who will tower over them.

Assuming that they mean the Age of Darkness + Saturnine boxes when they say they have the "original and new", this wouldn't matter to them, because the box comes with no chainswords and also no MK4s.

If they have the Betrayal at Calth box they would have MK4s, but they still don't have chainswords (only large, sheathed combat knives, which are optional and currently have no rules), so in either case they're safe.

Also Saturnine Terminators tower over anything that isn't a Dreadnought. They are colossal on purpose. Next to a Saturnine, the difference between 1.0 and 2.0 power armour is as nothing.

Yes sorry.. I have the Age of Darkness box from a couple years ago that was sold right until recently and I have (by way of the fire sale in the UK) a copy of Saturnine. So 2.0 and 3.0.

In that case, yes, you are all set.

Frankly if they made a whole new box, released 2022, be illegal a mere three years later, I'd put Nottingham HQ to the torch myself. These models last for decades and more if varnished and well cared for.

So you've not been keeping up with Age of Sigmar at all I take it

Not really, no. I began to withdraw when they booted out my mixed Daemons in late 2022. I am aware of the Stormcast apocalypse when they wiped out the second edition range upon launching fourth edition, which itself was absolutely atrocious, but if HH3.0 had wiped out the new models in the Age of Darkness box it'd be a step worse still!
