After a two squads of Scorpions I had to paint a single big model. So I chose the Avatar of Khaine. I really love the new model and since it is bigger than the old metal one, I managed to paint the molten lava effect in a way I am happy with for the first time.

That Avatar looks sick! Amazing job with the highlighting, you nailed down the molten look, 10/10 would sacrifice an Exarch to awaken again.

It looks fantastic! The sword is particularly smooth - how'd you manage to do it?
Saving this for inspiration when I come to doing mine.

Thanks for all the praise. I'm blushing a bit.

I did the initial layers with wetblending, then I used glazing to bring the colours together a bit more. Also for each layer I thinned down the paint very much, so each brushstroke resulted only in a very thin, translucent layer. Fire Dragon Bright works very well for this, since it is already quite translucent when it is not thinned down. I used it to bring the yellow and red parts closer together.
