We are so back.....well sorta, i managed to rebuild my old 6th ed WHFB minotaur army for old world as best as i could with the new rules.
Now the "fun part" get it all painted

I have the rules for beastmen and everything and i don't know the best list for them but if i recall you may want something to handle your opponent's swiftstride, flyers and something to kill characters on chariots or monsters.
I've also heard the Ambush and chariots list is the better of both specialty beastmen army list compositions but i always found minotaurs fun in their own way. Something about a rampaging humanoid bull murdering everything feels satisfying.

This is more of a nostalgia list, i was re-creating my WHFB 6th ed list. i know i have a weakness not having any ranged attacks aside from some spells, the ambushers have helped out with that in the last 2 games i have played. as for monsters, thats why i have a couple great weapons in each squad as well as 2 shaggoths.

Doing the same thing only not a minotaur list. Standard Gors is what I am working on today actually.
I did keep my old metal Minotaurs, so I can make a large contingent, but not likely a 2K list without a lot of help.

Made a slight list change after running into some incorporeal stuff last game, i removed one minotaur from the ambusher unit, giving them a biting blade and the soiled tapestry banner(hatred), i also had enough points to add in a sword of strength to the nurgle themed squad. so now every unit has one champion/character with a magic weapon (the doom bull is with the third unit).

Not quite a month in and i painted my fingers off, but i got it done-
Did a 2k king of the hill tonight.
Didn't go quite as good as the last 2 games, but still managed a draw. most likely since i stood on the objective the entire game. the slaneesh aligned unit (purple) was an ambusher so it showed up in turn 3.

Did a bit of list tweaking with the beastmen this week, took out a minotaur with a great weapon from the nurgle aligned squad. then i swapped out the great weapons on the shaggoths for swords of might. it was a trade off on 1 strength for a normal initiative strike. with the points left over i gave the khorne aligned squad leader a berserker blade (seemed appropriate).
The revised list-

I ended up loosing 1 squad that broke and ran, about half another squad as well as both shaggoths getting injured. The skaven player was trying out his rat ogres this game and they should have hurt me, but his dice betrayed him with below average hits. i also rolled some amazing above average 5+ saves. turning this game into a bit of a slaughter with only one squad of clan rats surviving to flee another day.

Skaven currently have a lot going against them and are Legends rules. As far as i know jezzails are really good, the stormvermin + fellblade warlord + bsb + grey seer blob can be ok and i might try plague furnaces again but wielding them differently. Also i've tried doomwheels at least twice and they're not terrible.
Not sure if you're friend and/or opponent was using the fan made specialty rules but supposedly they make skaven not suck.

He really has no love for the jezzails since they are only really good against high armor single wound models like imperial knights. the globadiers on the other hand he really likes, and his storm vermin/plague monks usually do really well. the mortar hit me good this game, but the next game it exploded on a misfire the first turn. the problem for most of the battle engines is they neutered them making them hard to move (drag along but not) or reduced their effectiveness. the lightning cannon no longer has the blast at the end of the line shot and the catapult blast while being a large is only S2 outside the hole.
He has been running a nuke caster in the last few games and it has done well for him.

Well i mean i don't know who he plays against. Normally i play against orcs & goblins and then tomb kings. I can't tell you how many chariots or cavalry i've had to face down with my jezzails and they still work ok vs monsters. I have like 21 of them since there is no cap on models per unit but you can only have as many units as your number of warlocks which is also heavily capped (2 warlocks max in 2k pts). Stormvermin are alright but expensive in points. I have about 20 globadiers and they sound cheap in points but very iffy all around. Keep in mind since i face tomb kings at times i have to deal with shooting that takes no negative modifiers, flying units and chariots out the wazoo and fear and terror checks. I can't even tell you how bad tomb king heroes are on a bone dragon. At that point i just throw up my hands or pray. Only way to handle it is to feed it chaff.

Currently we only have one player who runs a bunch of heavy cavalry in his list blood knights, chaos knights etc...
No chariots that i can think of, it is mostly a cost/performance issue with the jezzails he can get 2 times as many storm vermin for the same cost IIRC.

Just heard back from our skaven player this is how he would deal with your predicament-
Tomb kings are a hard match up because of them never breaking. I feel like he’s probably doing the best he can in that scenario we don’t really have any big guy killers in our army that don’t come from breaking them first. One option he can do (not exactly recommended but possibly more damaging to something of that power) is run double hell pit abomination then charge them both into the the tomb king on dragon with that being close to the same cost as his 21 jessails with one simple idea in mind the hell pit has an ability called feed where you roll one attack and if you hit the target takes d3 wounds with no armor allowed this also ignores toughness of the dragon and any penalties to would against you. With 2 of them you can guarantee one hit per turn he will get ward and regen but it’s something. In addition both are unbreakable so he has to actually do 6 wounds to each to kill them no half measures if he dose kill both they have a chance to get back up if they don’t then they have a chance to spawn a rat swarm that’s also unbreakable buying you even more time. If you can’t kill it two he’ll pits cost 420 points (nice) and that almost always cheaper than a dragon so if they tie it up for the whole game you didn’t lose as Much as you would if it hits your stormvermin Death Star. It also has the potential (a far cry) to kill that tomb king on dragon

The issue with hellpit abominations to my knowledge is that they need to roll to hit still even if auto-wounding is a thing with multiple damage. I think they're only ws 3 and if you're fighting a tomb king on dragon they could be really hard to hit as in even worse than a 50% chance. I was thinking of doing double abomination anyway though.
It might honestly be better to just use a big unit that holds on in combat with it for longer. Hard to say really as my opponent likes taking fairly strong lists.

Got in 2 games today.
The first ended up being a break scenario where the vampire counts won the game by just running around avoiding combat.
The second game was a training game for a returning (from WHFB) player using some borrowed minis to run his skaven army.
It ended up being a very close tie at the end of the game, on a high note my shagoth got to do what it was supposed to do and took down a greater demon.

My beastmen have had a decent run in the last couple months.
I have only lost 2 and tied one of the last dozen or so games, lately i had not taken many pics to post but this time i remembered
This week i ended up going up against skaven fighting over a baggage train and the second game was 4 objectives VS the warriors of chaos.
The table set up this time was a ruined little town. i like to make my tables look nice even if fantasy tables don't require lots of terrain. it is also fun to add interactive terrain features.
The first game was pretty crushing, i chased his jazaels off the table and ran through most of his units. the remaining clan rats ended up fleeing as rats do.
The second game was super bloody there were 4 objectives, i scored some of them mid game but being a horde of beastmen i was more focused on taking down units. i ended up loosing both shaggoths and most of the khorne aligned unit. however the payback was intense, i took multiple banners, caused his warlord to flee on the last turn(the guy had a 3+/5+/5+ made him impossible to kill), and destroyed most of his units. giving me a strong 800+ point margin of victory even with him scoring most of the objectives.

My 2k minotaur blood herd army has ballooned into a 2,850 army-
Had a game scheduled against our chaos dwarf player but he could not get enough points for 2850 so we dropped it by 300 for what he had.
We were both trying out some new toys given the points level. i was a very basic open war engagement without any special setup or objectives. i ended up loosing a fair bit more than him but i did enough damage to pull off a tie thanks to his goblin units being so cheap, the number of units was a bit deceiving compared to cost.

Nice looking army.
If you going to stick with just the bulls I would recomend Breaking up the other 6 man Unit into pair's with additional hand weapon and using them as flankers for your Big units. this will give you a small disposable units that should be able to breack up and disrupt herassing units and flankers and can go for Objectives whille your big units consentrat on pinning down and destroying the enermy..

I have run several different version of the list, the smaller unit is usually running as an ambusher unit. so i can get to those juicy things hiding on the back. or just be able to threaten from behind or the flanks
As an update i went through the remaining bits that i have and i can get 3 more minotaurs together to bump all 3 squads to 9 and i can hit exactly 3k
