The satin varnish is still a bit shiny, so will hit it with matt.

Happy with how it turned out, and a good proof concept.

I like it too, good start.

Hmnnn...

There's the female Inquisitor I started for one painting challenge & gave up on

Then there's my Chosen...

Remember these Marauders?

Well, I have 10 more (including a full command), which would allow me to run two regiments of 15.

But none of these are speaking to me currently...

I’d go with the inquisitor. She looks fun and different.

Half finished is just a phrase. The goal is to use the month to get some otherwise stalled project across the finish line. I would hope people choose projects that will make a good use of the month’s time. If all you need to do it put one dot of color on that takes 5 minutes, I’d prefer you choose a better project, but will not say no/disqualify you for it (as that’s getting close to just submitting finished work to vote farm).

Do what you need to do, paint what you want. Work on that pile of shame.

I will confess, i am only going to make to tabletop ready. Parade ready is likely much further down the line . But hopefully I can score some cool points at the end of the month!

Ask yourself: have you rated a gallery image today?

Paint to whatever level you want. It’s all good.

I didn’t mean to come across to harsh or restrictive. The goal here is to promote and encourage. And we’ve got people at all levels and welcome them.

For the most part if you (generic plural not specific “you”) think something is fine to enter, it probably is. This month is a little odd, as we allow partially finished works to be entered. And to be honest, some people’s rough WIP are better then some of our finished works. So where do you draw the line?

Although if someone wanted to take a fully painted mini and try weathering for the first time, I’d even let that pass. Pushing ourselves if part of the reason we are here.

So whatever you feel is fine. Let your conscience be your guide. Just put the month to good use.

So this months challenge has inspired me to dig these out...! Got a AT Dire Wolf and Reaver titans which will be for Legio Solaria. Not entirely sure why I abandoned these part way through before (literally half way through painting the dire wolf), but hopefully can get the mojo to finish these off now! Reaver needs barrels drilled before getting undercoated, intending to get it to the same stage as the Dire Wolf and then finish the final steps in tandem.

Those are some big guns! How are you doing the panel lines-- Gundam pens, oil wash, or something else? They're really clean.

I'm pretty sure I tried (and failed) to paint these in a previous challenge, so it seems appropriate to enter them again. These are the hunters from Primal: The Awakening, very cool minis with plenty of detail. Proof pic:

The girl with the longbow (Mirah) is the closest to done, but still needs plenty of work; the others are in much more primitive states. I don't know if I'll get them all done, but if I can polish off one or two I'll be happy.

My armies (re-counted and updated on 11/7/24, including modeled wargear options):
Dark Angels: ~16000 Astra Militarum: ~1200 | Imperial Knights: ~2300 | Leagues of Votann: ~1300 | Tyranids: ~3400 | Stormcast Eternals: ~5000 | Kruleboyz: ~3500 | Lumineth Realm-Lords: ~700

Just a Nuln oil wash, but using a “rigger” brush; they’re about 3-4 times longer than a normal brush, so you retain a fine tip, but they hold a lot more liquid, so you can run them down the line. A little bit of touch up to the surrounding paint afterwards.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Also, good for rivets, because you can just run the tip of the brush around the rivet and the wash flows out.

I will enter with a squad of 3 soviet T-34 tanks. I build it with my children, each of us making one of the tanks. It is my son's first model ever (he is 6), so I choose something simple - "cartoon" t-34 tank, manufactured by Meng. It is almost a toy, without small parts and is very sturdy - it survived fall from the table without any damage. We started them some time ago, but they landed on the shelf when the children got bored. But after I told them I will post the models on the contest on the modellers forum, we started to work on them again That is what they looked like at the start of the month (proof picture):

and now, after two building sessions they look like this:

Here's my unfinished pile from this year's Challenge.

Two unfinished zombies and a base-coated Ada from the RE2 board game, and a trio of Chocosap mobile suits, one partially painted. Let's see how much I can get done.

You want them all entered under your name? If they want to enter their own work, you can post for them. Just let me know what name to enter them under. And each one would get the 6 pictures. So halfling84 (6 pictures) // halfling85 (6 pictures) //halfling86 (6 pictures) Or whatever other names you want. The default is normaly tacking a “Jr” on the end of the main account’s name.

Or you can just enter them all as a group yourself. We’re flexible, and supportive of new hobbyists. Whatever works for you.

--

We are over halfway done with the month, so plan accordingly. As a reminder, next month is the start of the new year, with the classic Space Marine theme. Which is not just the official trademarked GW marines, but anything that resembles the genre of fighting guys and gals in space. And probably the reoccurring Eldar revolution that keeps copping up. But if you want to paint one of those, you might have to sing fighting songs on the barricades. I don’t make the rules.

Keep on painting!

Nevelon - thanks, but I'll post it all as one entry. The tanks look almost the same, and they fit into the five model limit. And that would be halflings 15 and 20, since 84 is my year of birth
Mothsniper - I remember the Apocalpse was really fun to build, maybe build it as a summer side-quest?

This weekend we completed all the tanks:

Hello everyone

First of all the league table has been updated going into the final month, its all rather close for positions, a last week of effort to complete Febs challenge.

https://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/732117.page#9481149

and on to my entry proof, I'm going to try and finish off as much of the fortified manor as possible, from a previously entered challenge in the year

Also Nev as its a short month I'm going to request an extension so we get the whole weekend to finish the entries.

No worries, extension granted. I’ll formally close it Monday morning over coffee before work.

Thanks for keeping the table up to date!

Had a pretty difficult month due to a combo of work challenges and some family health issues, so just thought I'd drop a quick message to confirm that I won't be completing these in time to take part this month.

Okay, so Inquisitor Gabs is done and I got some more paint on the commissar henchman from the same proof photo. If I can finish him, I'll start snapping pics of them both. Otherwise, it'll just be the Inquisitor.
