This is my newest blog, I’m still working on my eldar but ORKS have always been my first love, collecting them since first edition. I have around 10,000 painted and a lovely kromlech gargant but with the new editon and new ORKS coming I will be painting more. This blog is to help keep me motivated with painting these. My old ORKS have been built and painted over 37 or so years, very few first editon models are still in the army but the painting standards have improved over the decades so I’m really excited to try and create a cohesive theme and basing scheme for these ORKS, my inspiration as always with ORKS will be 1st editon stylings.

I’m sharing first of the only group shot I have of my painted ORKS, there are about 4000 points unpainted still but that’s no reason not get all the lovely new stuff coming!

And also the wazzdakka model I’m currently working on, evil Sunz are my fave clan by far for this guy is a must.

Started work on the red of the armour on the bike. Can’t wait to get stuck into the new ORKS, I love the Paul bonner like proportions and longer snouts. Very retro.

Lovely painting - the skin looks great. What’s your recipe for Ork skin?

Thanks mate, The skin was a new recipe for me, or an evolution of my current one.

I do a black and white zenithal, then do a mantis warriors contrast over that. Then a thinned bit of daemonette hide in the recesses. The highlights were the two paints in the photo. The proacryl green is lovely and the acid yellow gives it a real pop.

Update on the bike too. Nearly done, waiting on delivery of a new ivory paint for the bones so did the jet blast thing but need to do some more on the blending it into the base a bit.

Quick update on wazdakka should have him finished soon then on to the Armegeddon boyz.

As for them, they are the best ORK models I’ve seen in ages, they have a real 1st/2nd edition feel. Absolutely love them. Cannot wait to get some paint on them. As
No the push fit is done so ingeniously, they are a joy to build, in fact I prefer building them to normal but could just be me getting older and my eyes getting worse!

That Wazdakka is looking fantastic!

Are you planning to make any conversions to the Armageddon orks?

Thanks! Finished wazdakka.

I’ve built the Armegeddon ORKS stock as is because I love them, going to start painting them tomorrow. Got a few conversions in my head for down line but not for just yet.

Thanks, I shared the recipe a few posts up in this thread. I’ve been painting ORKS for decades now and this recipe on this model just worked for me. He’s such a cartoony character the vivid skin made sense to me. I’ll be rolling it out on the Armegeddon ORKS next. The new ORKS will be bright! Sod the grim dark.

Making a start on the Armegeddon ORKS. Batched them all for their zenithal and then have got the mantis warriors on the skin of the bigboss, doc, and 1 mob.

They are the best ORKS in a long time. I love the retro feel to them. Full of character.

Making progress on the first boyz mob, loving the new skin recipe, need to speed it up a bit but the monument bright green is a lovely paint.

Wazdakka looks great, those red gradient and bright skin are spot on.

Pretty much finished off the 1st boyz mob, wanted to do some war paint but it is too hot to be doing detail work, paints drying in the brush! Don’t know how painted from hot places manage. So started on the 2nd mob, going Badmoonz on these.

Thanks! 36 years in the making! Not much left from the 1st or 2nd edition but some bits, a battlewagon and some grots.

These new Orks are so characterful. Your paint job really does them service. Keep it up ?
