I thought this would be neat little list to put together. Since it is pretty much opinion hopefully this won't get TOO uncivilized.

Lets start out with:

-Tank Shock ongoing CC
-Moving vehicles so that you can only see an opponents HQ and sniping them.
-Taking a bolter as well as lascannon on tac marines.

I am sure the list will be long but lets see what happens here.

Because people actually do it?

-Shooting between the legs of a walker / MC

-Using your opponent's teleport homer / summoning Icon.

-Falling 'back' towards your opponent's Synapse creature, and using your opponent's Synapse to become immune to Instant Death (not sure if this is technically legal or not, but it goes with the above item).

-Placing models in multilevel area terrain, on a stepped hill, or behind thin low walls in such a way that it is impossible to physically place (or balance) another model in base to base with your unit(s). Then claiming that your units cannot be assaulted nor consolidated into.

-Necrons rolling WBB for wounds from S9/S10 weapons

-Infiltrating units with Mark of Khorne

-various modeling abuses: prone cc troops that can hide behind almost anything, vehicles with huge banners and walkers with skirts to block LOS, etc.

-Siren Prince (Slaaneshi DP with 10+ minor powers)

Thankfully the previously irritating "deepstriking skimmers count as moving fast AND can shoot the turn they drop in" has been FAQ'd away, or that would be at the top of my list.

Ya, that is what I was looking for, more than "things that may exist due to raw" more of a "things that people do that others think are abuses"

I don't know how this one would fall.  The Necron monolith has an ordnance weapon that is AP 3. However, by the FAQ, the EXACT model under the center of the hole takes an AP 1 hit. The opponent MAY NOT assign that wound to another model. This can definately be used to snipe character models or heavy weapons. Hell, you can insta-kill a Space marine character.

You cannot target ICs when they are part of a squad.

You should have read the other thread Green Bloater, it's definetely a worth mention in here simply because the way most people read it, you can. (It's not like the rules say you can't hurt and IC when in a unit, you can, eg Torrent of Fire).

 

One thing I don't like people doing to me is hiding a land raider behind a wrecked predator, saying the predator is size 3 area terrain.

The Monolith's partical whip can.

And why is that?

Because the newest (but still old) Necron FAQ says that the model that takes the AP1 hit from the center of the template is the only model elligible to be removed if the AP1 wound is inflicted.

So find yourself a character in the center of the unit (because you have to cover as many models as possible) and hope that you don't roll a 1 (and pray that he doesn't have an adamantite mantle).

I thought that only template weapons have to cover as many models as possible.

uh im sorry thats not a rules abuse thats just solid tactics if i can move my tanks and dreads so that the only thing i can shoot is your hq maybe my opponent should pay more attention.. and good bye hq

and just how do they justify that one? there is no rule allowing you to use any peice of your opps equipment under any circumstances

people that make it unpleasant to play usually get asked to leave.. only happened once so far

hate to break it to you but yes the faq's do overide the bbb

 

they are updates to misprints and whatnot in the codex lists

thats standard policy by gw for a long long time

Check the rules for Commander Shadowsun. Her command link drone lends her Ld 10 to any Tau units within 18 inches. It doesn't say they have to be on the same side, it just says "any Tau units."

the same thing can be said if you are using the captains leadership of all marine units gget leadership of 10

 

it hink this falls inot the category of they meant your own army.. but as it is written these 2 are examples.. but not really using a peice of equipment allthough shadows use part of her retinue so i expect that to be changed here shortly

 

you still cannot use another opps summoning  icon to bring in your troops

Okay! I trust you. Rules as Posted (RAP).

I seen a couple of weird things:

Using a shooting phase psychic power while the librarian is locked in assault (This is fuzzy, i'm not sure if its legit or not but I've seen FoD on this one).

Tank Shocking CC is normal fare in our shop.

There is the lame Mixed Armor confusion for drones (firing a lascannon at a broadside surpasses drones because the drones don't get a save against the shot) Which I don't play by.

This one isn't legal, at least for most powers, since they follow all the normal rules for shooting attacks.

It's not the drones that are the problem, it's the Broadside. The Casualty Removal rules force you to remove models that don't get a Saving Throw, not models that don't get an Armour Save... so the Broadside buys it because he doesn't get a Saving Throw while the Drones do.

The justification I heard is that FoD isn't like a shooting power, unlike EW or FotA. The argument was, "FoD is an emanation from the Librarian, he doesn't actually pick a target or anything, thus he doesn't really fire unlike Emperor's Wrath"

I just decided to stop playing this player.

ill check this in the am but doesnt fod take place in the shooting phase? since hes in cc he doesnt get a shooting phase

I'd argue its against the rules. I think shooting rules state that when in assualt units can't fire weapons (pg 44) into or out of assault. While in an assault no weapons may be fired, additionally it states that no leadership or morale checks are made because of shooting to units that may suffer casualties from shooting into the assault. Clearly FoD doesn't apply to units already lockedin assault....but units that are close to the assault could potentially be affected.

The problem I've seen is that psychic powers aren't considered a fired weapon to some "interpretors" of the rules. Additionally since FoD doesn't require a target, does not follow the normal shooting rules.

Again though, I say BS.

@ Drop Zone - Pls provide a link to the GW statement that FAQ takes precedence over BBB. Someone I trust told me you are wrong on that call of yours. Nothing personal.

Bloater, there is no such statement, because it would be uneccessary.

Answer this: What is the point of releasing a clarification or errata if it doesn't take precedence over the original text?
