Oh dear, another IW powergamer. How about an intelligent army ? One that actually requires tactics and a bit of brainpower to win ?

Simple stuff gets you the IW list that everyone hates, it's really easy to do at 2000 points.

Pimp out a Chaos Lord. Give him nice things like stature, flight/speed, a dark blade, and whatever other nastyness you can think of. You have the chaos codex, I'm sure the options aren't new to you. You'll have other nasty targets for your enemies lascannons to draw fire (Defilers, Obliterators, etc) so this guy can either do counter charge or just try and run up and smash stuff while your putting out incredible amounts of Lascannon and battlecannon shots.

You want 9 Obliterators.

You want a Basalisk, and 3 Defilers. With this points level they all get Possession and the Armor upgrade options. Give the bassy and one or two defilers indirect fire.

You troops should be multiple 5 or 6 Man Las/Plas squads. This is a high points game, so get a good amount.

That's pretty much the IW army of death in a nutshell.

I am really a fan of 6 obliterators. Basically the same difficulty to prevent from scoring as 9 oblits, and fewer points to lose to a fast assault unit and some bad luck. Chaos marines with mocu are a really good buy, and 210 pts fewer in obliterators gets you almost two more las/plas squads and thusly two more scoring units.

Or, you could play a less boring army that might be some fun, like Night Lords.

I am the Hammer.
I am the Hate.
I am the Woes of Daemonkind.
From frenzy, temptation, corruption and deceit, deliver me, my Emperor,That the enemy might face in us Your Wrath.
Fear the Grey Knights, Daemon.

How do you gusy feel about takeing tratiors with lascannons to free up points? i looked at it a few mins ago it would make my troop choice go from 4 to 6 2 extra lascannons....

Why would you buy mutated hull on indirect fire tanks? Seems wasteful to me.

Predators are a much wiser use of the points than defilers. Maybe one defiler with indirect.

3 preds with las/HB and mutated/possessed are really annoying. Add a mutated/ind Defiler and you're set. It'll be boring to play and even more boring to win with, but thats what you wanted right ?

Ok drop 2 defilers add 2 preds .  Heavy bolter sponsons?

anyone have a idea on the tratior's is it worth the 2 more Lascannaons?

Why would you go over to preds from defilers? You have upwards of 9 Obliterators and a lot of Las/Plas Squads, you do not need more Lascannons. Heavy bolters would be sort of nice, but if you're fighting a hoard then your Oblits will morph heavy bolters.

Seriously the whole evil thing about IW is the fact that you can drop FOUR pie plates a turn, some or all of them being indirect fire and you can support that with a ton of BS4 Lascannons. Really this is not something to be passed up. Anything not in Terminator armor is going to suffer and you've got lascannons out the yin-yang to deal with them anyway.

Longshot actually had an excellent suggestion in taking only 6 Obliterators instead of 9. I never thought about it as I never played IW but it makes total sense. Much harder to remove as a scoring unit, and with the points saved you can get two more survivable Las/Plas squads, giving you two more scoring units.

Ok i may try the 6 oblitz #1 it makes since #2 its cheaper on my pocket lol.

So still no reply on tratior's....

I don't think you can use traitors in a regular CSM list. You can use CSM allies in a LatD list, but I as far as I know you can't use LatD in a CSM list. It would be awesome if you could, but I really don't think it's legal.

Unless you're talking about another kind of traitors that I'm unfamiliar with.

You can never have too many lascannons. S8 Ap3 ordnance is only applicable against certain armies - those who will leave cover and get plated, and have 3+ saves and go about in big squads.

Shooting a defiler at a 6 man las/plas squad that is spread out in cover is worse than shooting a twinlinked lascannon and two heavy bolters at it, and you have a twinlinked lascannon for killin tanks. Guess what you can expect to see the most of in competitive play - 10 man marine squads that bunch up outside of cover, or 6 man las/plas squads that sit spread out in cover?

Then you can take an inventory of all the targets the heavy bolters are going to vaporize that a defiler blast is overkill against. Gaunts, genestealers, IG, fire warriors, scouts, various Eldar aspects, and on and on and on.

Defilers are less resilient for the points (AV13 v. AV14), don't kill terminators or tanks very well, have a bigger footprint (read: harder to hide one), and can't move 12".

I'd say take four Possessed Predators with TL Lascannon and HB sponsons, or three and the indirect firing Basilisk. In 1500 points I really like the latter set-up combined with a few las/plas squads and about 6 Obliterators and some Chaos heroes.

To the guy who told the OP to play an intelligent army: Sometimes the opponent might be so outmatched that you can play stupid and still win, but when the IW player plays intelligently then good things really start to happen.

Well, as Ed Maule once famously said: "Therion's from Finland, where comp does not exist. Where he's from the trash we're forced to field for a tournament would lose to a 12 year old." - bigchris1313

for the record, this army does not play itself. I have seen a lot of idiots losing with this type of configuration.

Almost all 40K armies play themselves since this is a ridiculously simple game we're talking about, but of course if you play 'well' you win more with any army. I'm just saying one has to be a total slow not to be able to play 40K well. Luckily the world is crowded with morons and the smart guys can have perfect gaming records.

You might consider a mutated hull vindicator. It still has ordnance, great AP, and you could use it to hide your deamon prince behind while you move it use the first turn.
