With some of the upgrades Eldar got, what do you think DE would get in turn?

Off the top of my head, Scourges getting the "fly really  high" abilities of hawks.

Too early to speculate. DE are, at best, 1-2 years off (i.e. just in time for 5th ed.).

Guinness: for those who are men of the cloth and football fans, but not necessarily in that order.

I think the lesson here is the best way to enjoy GW's games is to not use any of their rules.--Crimson Devil

We've discussed this here before. Stuff I like includes:

Scourges get the multiple DS ability and different weapons options. Haemonculi get combined with Grotesques as a single Elites choice, and Grots get some upgrade options to represent the H's tinkering. Seems like there's not enough room for both Reavers and Hellions in the list, so why not just drop Hellions completely and give Reavers a points break? Warriors get renamed. Raider squads lose heavy weapon option but gain assault weapon option. Talos get an overhaul. Most of the wargear gets an overhaul. I dunno if I'd mess with the WWP too much, but I think it'd be kinda cool to make that a more central part of the DE army somehow. It's fluffy and effective in 4th ed.

And some new fluff and lots of new miniatures, of course...

What I would like to see for Dark Eldar:

HQ

Archon / Dracon - Standard DE
Wych Archite / Dracite - Wyches and Wych Jetbikes as Troops - Warriors as Elites
Master Haemonculi - Grotesques and Mandrakes as Troops - Warriors as Elites

Haemonculi can not buy equipment from the armory.  They are auto-equipped with Destructor and Scissorhand (powerweapon, +1 attack) and have feel no pain.  Instead they have a list of "enhancements" they and any attached grotesques may buy.  Master Haemonculi may have a squad of uber-grotesques which may purchase two grotesque upgrades.

Troops: 

Warriors - don't fix what isn't broken.

Elites:

Wyches - don't fix what isn't broken.
Grotesques - Must be led by a Haemonculi (included in this entry) - automatically have feel no pain universal rule.  Can buy: move through cover, furious charge, venomous claws (+1A), +1T, 5+I save. (kind of like, DE possessed) - Retains auto-break HTH resolution that they have now - just modified to make it so they can achieve it.
Mandrakes - Mandrake champion has access to the armoury.

Fast Attack:

Bikes - don't fix what isn't broken.
Warp Beasts - these are awesome.  don't fix what isn't broken.
Hellions - these are ugly.  retcon them out of the codex.

Heavy Support:
Scourges - Fly high as per swooping hawks
Talos - 4A base instead of random.  Option for darklance tail weapon
Ravager - dont't fix what isn't broken.

Hellions- turn their hellglaives into laser lances.


as for flavor...

So far Wyches= hth mastery
while warriors=.... maybe some guns

to make them stand out, it'd be nice to see Eldar cybernetics or Haemonculi conversions to be more common for the DE. Makes them stand out more from Wyches and Craftworld Eldar.


There's enough existing fluff to support that direction, with the Haemonculi
Talos is already more or less a very big cyborg. And with their lifestyle as dangerous as it is even at home, loss of limb doesn't seem so suprising.

Personally, making Dark lances a bit more expensive and less takeable wouldn't hurt...

The hellions are fairly cool: just some tweakage to let people take them?

I would like mandrakes to actually have a chance to take either poisoned weapons or atleast options for a mandrake character.

Darklances are basically the only heavy weapon darkeldar on foot get and the splinter cannon doesnt cut it for long ranged support. Dark Lances are fine as they are since I see less and less vehicle armies than I used to.

Comparing tournament records is another form of e-peen measuring.

I think what the new Eldar codex really means is that we can expect to see a few units that receive new models get better, a few units that need improvement staying exactly the same, and our best heavy weapon getting worse and more expensive at the same time.

Well hopefully its a complete redo...The only models that dont suck are the Character,s Incubi, Raider, Wyches. A society based on slavery should show that in its models and way it plays. Not GW's dumb pain/torture society...

Id like to see perverted aspects, or Eldar items/warmachines..."pirated".  Everything about the existing specialty troops needs to be rethought and resculpted. Id like to see the Army play like Speed Freaks with boosts ala faith points for captured units making it flimsy early but capable late in the game as it withdraws.

I also think there should be rules punishing DE for being in protracted HTH...strike hard and fast and be gone...

Maybe get additional VPs for completing lists of prenominated OJBs in addition to the mission by certain turns.

I think that DE get Harlies that are not listed in the Eldar book. Also, maybe adding Close Combat version of Warriors, with pistol and cc wpn. Splinter Rifle change:
+1A as a Kroot Rifle Assault 2. Veteran Warriors w/ options.

Incubi should loose all ability to shoot blasters/shredders, it does not fit. Incubi master price drop, Exarch like powers, or maybe Drazhar special rule.

Wyches are fine. Warp beast tweak, they are demons, and should have saves as such, also some kind of plasma grenage equivalent. Beast Master should be a Wych with the same dodge in CC to be consistent.

Wargear overhaul, arcane needs revamp, as does vehicle upgrades. Weapon changes are minimal, change shredder to flammer template, add a weapon or few. Clarification on the "eldar' jetbike from Wargear book, price change on bike for characters, clarify the save on the bike for characters.

Scourge, Talos, and Grotes changes are going to be big. Grotes are nigh worthless in 4th. Grotes have fluffy upgrades for tinkering as mentioned, Talos different weapon, Talos sting should be a stinger, upgrades/mutations to allow for variety as a dreadnaught. 2 CC wpn's should be in profile, AP should be changed to monstrous creature rule as per 4th Ed. Scourges wow jump pack heavy support, add Soul seeker to Cannons, 6"/12" in assault phase if they do not move in the movement phase, move and fire heavy weapons at half range or possible fast setup for hvy wpns. Possible sky option, or grenade pack ala Swooping Hawks.

Hellions look great but just don't perform, and will not be dropped. 2 Fast attack for Dark Eldar that just need tweaks really. Combat Drug of 1 needs a reroll or change, remove 0-1 for Wych Cults. RJB hit and run ability.

Mandrakes get a tweak with poison wpns. I doubt a leader, but squad upgrades and they dump the splinter pistol all together. They should never shoot, just kill in cc.

Special characters will get tweaked, and possible a few added. A few of them are weak, especially Kruellah and Decapitator(although he is cool). How can you be an ultimate assassin and every regular assassin tears you up?

New figs are definately on tap.

Just some thoughts and opinions.

fix the talos movement so it can keep up with the rest of the army
either that or give it a decent firing weapon that can do something other than flash its lights like ig guns

id like to see the ap value of the guns improve if your going to have them with a low str they need something....or add a nother round being fired 3 shots or something str 3 barely wound anything

36 shots at 5 terminators one game hit 28 times, wounded 8, killed none, lost the sqaud next round

The Dark Eldar are selfish. If they think they are going to die, they get the feck out of there. Improve their leadership values maybe, but making them fearless IMO wouldn't make much sense.

They need a new model line.

I have a hunch that's why they were pulled from retail -- their model line is so much worse than every other one. I was looking at DE as my first 40k army, but went with Chaos instead not because of differences in rules (I really like the feel of the DE list), but because the models are so incredibly ugly.

Stop trolling us so Lowinor and I can go back to beating each other's faces in. -pretre

Give DE the ability to hit-n-run; at the very least, the jetbikes should get it, from the fluff. I can see it applying to Warriors, Wyches, and Mandrakes.

As a rule of thumb, the designers do not hide "easter eggs" in the rules. If clever reading is required to unlock some sort of hidden option, then it is most likely the result of wishful thinking.

But there's no sense crying over every mistake;

you do realise that in europe de models are sold in game stores its only in the US that you have to buy de by mail order

 

is that another one of gw's lovely pricing policies i dont know but i find it lame

 

so that was not why they were pulled from the us..i think the mnodels fit precisely they are the dark side of eldar nd it shows i dont like some of the units per se but overall it works

yes id love to see some new models.. especially seeing as how well they did in Medusa v

I would like to see a mandrake character

give raider squads the option to take splinter pistol and CCW

Bikes need reduction of cost since everyone learned how to turboboost from watching reaver jetbikes

fix the talos

hellions need a points reduction

blaster option for scourages

access to an armor save that is better than +5 for the archon/dracon in lower point games

wyches are fine

maybe the rumored dreadpunisher would be nice

why would you have it go down ? at st7 t 7 its fine as it is it just moves too slow and has no guns whatsoever

movement of at least 12" to fit in with the fast pace of the de army it would need a points upgrade for sure or at least give it the options for splinter cannons not splinter rifles
