Hi All

Probably a stupid question, but as the new SM FAQ says that any model in terminator armor may choose to start in reserve and deepstrike onto the battlefield regardless of mission, I assume Chaos Termis can do it as well. - makes sense right?

Hmm... I guess so. If regular CSM terminator armor is allowed to teleport without regardless of rules, then i'd only assume that this ruling applied to them as well.

The C:CSM lacks the "regardless of whether the mission allows DS" wording. But because FAQs are offical rulings, and certain wording can be sweeping, I think you're right, per the RAW. But unlike the skimmers moving fast clarification in the Eldar FAQ, or the 1 psychic power per turn ruling in the DH FAQ, I think you're going to be hard-pressed to find anyone who agrees with you.

"The last known instance of common sense happened at a GT. A player tried to use the 'common sense' argument vs. Mauleed to justify his turbo-boosted bikes getting a saving throw vs. Psycannons. The player's resulting psychic death scream erased common sense from the minds of 40k players everywhere. " - Ozymandias

Hmm
That's what I was afraid of.
It makes perfect sense to me that they should be allowed to,(obviously I'm somehwhat biased though) just was curious how much "universal application" FAQs tend to have.

This isn't quite in the "Chaos Termies can use loyalist teleport homers to DS" camp, but it's close enough.

hahaahaha, well there is that problem too. I don't know, I'd give it to you, to me the fluff is what I would look to on this one. (admittedly the LAST source you look to for a rules justification) The terminator armor is thousands of years old in EVERY SM chapter, and each one of those suits has teleport abilities for the loyalists. Assuming no real change in terminator armor for CSM's, it is reasonable to assume they as well have teleporting powers. The generality of the SM terminator FAQ i don't think can apply to CSM terminator armor. Again though, it just seems logical that the CSM terminator armor also has teleportation abilities equal to the SM (absent the whole homers issue).

Your opponent can give you three options for the ruling
1: allow you to make the roll regardless of the mission assuming the logic i put above (Sheer grace or fluff justifications), or the RAW for the SM faq transporting to the CSM terminator armor (getting dangerous to homers now)
2: d6 it
3: State that the rules do not implicitly grant you the ability to DS absent the mission being played, thus you have to DS only when the mission permits.

As for CSM's using Loyalist teleport homers, thats just absurd rules corruption, one which should be avoided at all times, like scurvy

This is definitely a tough one. The Wargear book, where they generally took great pains to consolidate crap just like this they still have 3 entires:

One entry for Space Marine Terminator armor (that always allows DS).

One entry for Inquisitorial Terminator armor (that only allows DS when the mission does).

And one entry for Chaos Terminator armor (that only allows DS when the mission does).

As (I already mentioned) they updated a bunch of other stuff in the wargear book to make it work the same (Searchlights, Extra armor, Bionics, etc) it makes the issue muddy.

This definitely needs to be covered by any good tournament FAQ as it has rather important implications.

There are seperate listings in the Wargear book?
I guess that would go against it then.

I was basing my "it must work" interpretation on the Chaos Codex, which (iirc) simplay lists it as Terminator Armour, Chosen with Terminator Armor etc.

Like i said, i'd give this one to you because it seems just seems fair to me. I'd talk to your opponents before hand and see if they will give you 1 or 2 on the options I listed above. talk to tournament administrators for anything that needs clarification, especially this.
