I was working on a tau list and came up with an odd question.
If your Fire warrior Shas'ui is outfitted with the following:

Marker Light, Hard Wired target lock, Hard Wired Drone controller, Marker drone

What can the drone shoot?
A) What the squad is shooting at.
B) What the Shas'ui is shooting at / marking
C) Something else.

Is the Drone considered to have the target lock, or is he part of the squad, or is he a part of a "self contained" unit with the shas'ui?

The way I read it The drone and squad must all fire/mark the same unit while the shas'ui is free to fire at another unit.

It should be that the shas'ui and drone can fire at a seperate unit but the rules (as far as I can tell) don't support it. I also can't find anywhere about whether or not the shas'ui would be exempt from having to take a target priority test either. Just another one of those cases for the Tau where the intent/fluff don't seem to jive with the RAW.

One target priority test is taken and if it is passed then they are free to fire seperately.

There are no rules allowing the drone to fire seperately from the unit he is part of. So the answer is:

A.
