Usually you just use gray to highlight black. Dragging the edge of your brush carefully along the edges of the raised plates is usually easier than trying to paint the edges with the tip of your brush.

Your color scheme is striking. The issue that jumps out at me is it looks like the primer coat and/or the paint is too thick, especially on the bigger models. The fine details of the teeth, claws, and armor seem to be vanishing. That?s a sad, sad thing with such nice figures.

You use gray to highlight the black and what I do is put down a black
ink wash over it in case the transition is too stark.

The pattern sticks out. Were you going for clean lines (like on a racing
car) or something more organic?

Yeah, it's clear that you've used a very thick coat of paint to get coverage. While that allows you to paint over an area often with one or two appications, it completely fills in the detail of the model and makes it look thick and goopy.

Instead, you should be applying your paint in thin coats. It will then require several coats in order to cover an area, but the end result will be a model that doesn't look like its been dipped in mud and then painted.
