What bases do the Chaos Warhounds use for Warhammer 40k? I'm getting some Warhounds in trade, and I need to get the proper bases for them. Thanks!

I think they just come with the fantasy cavalry bases; having said that, I think they'd look better on the big round (40mm?) bases (likewise with 40k cavalry)...

What Syr said. They do come with the 25mm x 50mm cavalry bases, but for 40k they'd probably look better on 40mm rounds. Just beware of pissy puffy heads that might throw tantrums about the bases not being the right size, though in new environments this is probably a good way of identifying pickled pork turds you wouldn't want to play against anyways.

Yep they definately come with the fantasy cavalry bases as standard (the same as the wolves that are used for 13th company do). However you can put them onto large round 40k bases which look much more uniform with the rest of the army.

Well, the 40mm bases are bigger than the cavalry bases, so that should work just fine. Thanks!

i have some origianal berzerkers that are on square bases and I will not change them out for sentimental reason. I use the model most be on the bases size it comes with or bigger. and a 25mm square is bigger then a 25 mm circle. like wise the 40mm circle is bigger then the 25 x 50 calavry base. so you are free to choose what you like in this case.

If you want to mount the warhounds on 40mm round bases, it is perfectly legal to do so... 40mm bases have slightly more surface area than a cavalry base, so its all good

Yeah, I'm a big enough dork to actually do the math. It's what, 6 mm^2 or so bigger?

Six mm squared? Also, if they are like the daemons, they will have a base for either 40k or fantasy in them. Mount them on both!

Six square millimeters, actually. Pretty much the same thing. I'm getting the Warhounds sans bases (this is a seperate trade from the other purchse), so I just wanted to check.

Use the bases that come with them. Good enough for Bikers, good enough for dogs.

Black Gobbo has an article on making round 40K bike bases.
They use a 40mm square base, with a 40mm round base cut in half and put at each end. Looks a little too big if you ask me. (and you should always ask me) Doing that with a 25mm x 50mm base & a 25mm round base would just make it too long.
Necromunda Scavy dogs come on a 25mm round base, but they kick so much arse that I use wolves on 25mm x 50mm bases.

Also, I think GF9 does 'bike/cavalry' bases that are oval but the same length as cavalry bases. They're magnetic too, iirc. EDIT: They're called ' Magnetic bike oval bases".
