I belive I have found a semi viable tatic for the new Dark Angels codex, shocking yes I know.

According to the Deathwing Assault rules any independent character wearing term armor may join them in doing a Deathwing Assult.  As I look at the craptastic stats for choosing a libarian or chap in term armor (they loose an attack due to no term honors) I looked esle were and came back to my good old friend. The Greyknight Grandmaster in term armor.

DA's lost the special rule of not allowing allies with this current codex so it should be legal to take GreyKnight allies now?

A squad of Deathwing Termies with most likely 4 lighting claws, an assult cannon, plus a greyknight grandmaster, and a DA hq in term armor seems like a nice unit to use the deathwing assult rule to me. Maybe even adding a Deathwing Banner into the squad for the +1 attack, even to the Greyknight grandmaster.

Taking allies might be abit chessy, but taking an hq that does alot more for 5 points less than a chap in term armor with alot less special rules and attacksdoesn't seem chessy to me. It just inforces the fact that the DA codex needs help.

I really can't believe this, but I think you are right. Hey, can you give Inquisitors terminator armor too? Then you could throw one of them in the mix as well.

Haha, yea you could do that.

Let me get this straight. They castrated the min/max to be more fluffy and screwed the fluff by letting DA take allies?

They also removed the stuborn to change their fluf...
Fluf changes to fit the rules.

but, yep. grand masters are allowed. Giving the grand master another attack is kind of mean actually. Hadnt thought of that.

What kills me is that librians cant take bikes.

Da libarians can take bikes.

The best tactic I am finding the most successfull is to diregard thier codex completly and use the generic dex. You can even make a fluffier Ravenwing using generic traits.

If not using assault cannons I found it easier to make a DA army using the Chaos codex. The Dark blade from chaos is great sword of secerts.

The chaos bike rules and skills are alot better for Ravenwing as well.

Excellent suggestion davidson. It even stands up to the fluff. Fallen anyone?

That may work. Just play as the fallen and you can still use old Cypher.

So far it has done pretty well though I have went pretty heavy into slaan for sonic blasters on troops. The bike, lord/force commander, and dreads work alot better. I also like the oblits, I was going to use a normal termwith cyclone ml's stormbolter and ac as oblits... but then I relized how much it would cost $$ wise.

I think that the way they are supposed to be played......is in a non-sucky way. So, if they want to juice-up their army with inquisitors to at least make the army playable, so be it.

I know for my army it would work. I'm doing a succesor chapter of the DA who were created to work with the Inquisition (Deamon Hunters) to hunt the fallen, or just kill chaos. Or to deterr Inquisitor Ghobi. No one knows for sure.

There's a story that they worked with an Inquisitor. It's in the fluff. Therefore, I'm looking at a cheapo Inquisitor with the Emperor's Tarot to help the Ravenwing assault.

No earth shattering, thought provoking quote. I'm just someone who was introduced to 40K in the late 80's and it's become a lifelong hobby.
