I been tinkering around with writing up a codex for Alien Hunters since GW doesn't seem too interested in getting it done.   The problem is that Deathwatch fluff has them being very special forces like, small elite squads on super hard missions.  As a result it was really hard to fill out all the categories for a list.

So I started thinking about other agencies that could be allied with the Ordo Xenos to flesh out their troops a bit more, and I came up with two:

The Rogue Traders, including their less than human allies.  Basically this is a list for radical inquisitors working with alien mercenaries to fight other aliens.

The tech-priests of mars, and their forces.  This is the list for puritan inquistors.  They would have a close alliance with the explorators (from working on the fringes of known space) and magos bilogis/genetor for studying the aliens they discover and thining of new weapons.

It would be two very much overlapping lists, with options getting pruned off if an inquisitor is a puritan or a radical.  For example, radical inquisitors would be restricted to 0-1 deathwatch units, and puritans could take no aliens, etc.

Special character ideas are Inquisitor Kryptmann, or one of his acolytes.  A real dyed in the wool puritan, dedicated to defending the imperium from the 'nids.  And a deathwatch captain (as of yet unnamed) whose original chapter was wiped out by necrons, leaving him the only one of his line.  A bit of a nut job, and as a result of a touch of insanity, a bit of a radical.

Thoughts?  Flames?  Accolades?

I'd leave it up to GW to do since nothing you write will be legal.

I do like the idea of radicals using Zenos against Zenos. This may even be something G-Dub includes, even as an adversaries only option. Time will tell.

I've had a similar idea and have been using proxy models. For example, I use 2 Banshee Exarchs as Death Cult Assassins and Orkses as retinue members. I haven't come across anyone that didn't like it because my proxies are as closely armed to the original as possible.

Well, I think that a majority of the list has all ready been done, as the Ordo codex line seems pretty cookie cutter. Inquisitors, Inquisitor Lords, assassins, death cult assassins, storm troopers, ect. all would be included.

The Deathwatch HQ marine would probably have the same overall stats as a Force Commander, with artificer armor.

Then we need some kind of Xenos version of an arcoflagelent/deamon host. Maybe some kind of kind of robotic atomoton?

Maybe some kind of alien allie? Eldar would be the obvious choice. Dire Avengers maybe?

The obvious troops choice would be Deathwatch marines, probably somewhat simliar to the ones in Chapter approved. basically just normal marines with better equipment. The could teleport or droppod into battle, but no rhinos. Teleporting squads would count as fast attack.

As for heavy support? A Deathwatch Dreadnought, or maybe a special variety of a Predator.

I was figuring the standard Inquisitorial stuff, iincluding inducted guard or marines.

Also the possibility of xenos forces, select one alien codex, you can choose troops from that list without restriction, for each troop choice you can take 1 choice of elites, fast attack or heavy support.  If you include a rogue trader as an HQ choice, you can pick from more than one alien codex.  Allowabble choices are eldar, dark eldar, tau, orks.  Down side of this is the whole army gets labeled as radical, and loses access to conservative items.

You have the deathwatch, in all its glory.  I see them mostly as a special forces kind of unit.  Troops they come as presented currently, but with no captain, and a limit of veterans, more than that they become elites.  I would guess 3.  Deathwatch bikers for fast attack.  Heavy support would be a squad equipped with the sniper pattern bolters, maybe a BS of 5.  Squad size 1-5, infiltrate, squads of one can access additional gear.   Another possible elites choice would be a squad with combi-weapons, and the skill to use them with true grit.  HQ is the deathwatch squad as presented currently.  Deathwatch would be limited availability in radical armies, perhaps troops only.  Absolutely no dreadnoughts, the bodies and geneseed would be returned to their chapter.

Finally, for conservatives you can have the adeptus of mars.  Skitarri and servitors as troops.  Electro priests for the unpredictable elite nastyness.  Some "flexible" vehicle rules, kind of a mini VDR.  Leman Russ chassis, choose turret weapon from list A, hull weapon from list B, sponsons from list C, and upgrades galore.  None of it available to radical forces.

Similarly wargear availability would be cut down the radical/conservative line.  Alien weapons for radicals, techno gizmos for conservatives.  A resurection of a much toned down Vortex Grenade, something like vortex of doom psychic powere, 12" range, gets hot.  No duration, no eating anyhing it touches...  stasis grenades, MIU, other nifties from the Inquisitor rules...
