Suppose for a moment that a somewhat radical member of the Ordo Xenos were to conduct an experiment in which a human pariah was deliberately exposed to a genestealer.  That is not exposed in a hey my internal organs are exposed, but deliberately creating pariah-genestealer hybrids.

Discuss the results (as you see them) of this experiment.

Cringe in terro at the thought of genestealers hinding the rogue world home of the cullexus temple.

The answer would depend on how controllable the Imperiums gene splicing techinques were / are, not to mention their understanding of such things. I think any joining of Genestealer material with that of any other race will produce a genestealer.....after all, its what genestealers were designed to do

Now splicing an Ork with a Human, or an Eldar with a Human or a Tau, etc etc...would be a more interesting dicussion as the out come wouldn't be AS predictable....

wouldnt work imho, a genestealer implants a human with genetic material and this implant is the psychic conduit so would over write the basic brain chemistry (see one of the chiapas cain novels - as they encounter geneys and although using a blank they also dont want him impregnated), they in turn give birth to a hybrid and then it goes on until eventually a full geney is born so i doubt it would work, even if it doesnt have control over the blank after implantation any subsiquent offspring would be hybrids and thus psycic as its never been shown in the fluff if been a blank is hereditry (and from the descriptions of most blanks (think chiapas cain novels again) then it is very unlikely not)

As it has been referred to as the pariah gene, i woul suspect that it is pretty darn well established to be genetic.

Anyway, yeah I was going more towards the what would the hybrids be like.  Ok, specifically Iwas thinking of the scenes in alien resureccetion where it became obvious that over the course of a few attempts, they were trying to get a very specific result genetically.

This is something I would think that Kryptman would be willing to try, to see if he could poke a hole in the synapse web or even the shadow in the warp...

hmm... look ing this at my bio book it would appere that it would depend on wether the psyic trate is domanit, resesive, or co-domenit to the blank and neather blank nor psyker (normel)gean. my observation of the fluff on psykers maby from the second soul drinker book  is that it is resesive as you can only have a psyker child from 2 psyker parents (not factoring in random mutations), prehaps the same gose for blanks?

sience aside I think that it would realy scrue up the snapyes (not even going to try to corect it) which would leave them unguided and there for just a normel mutant (this is with out the implant over rideing brain chemistry if it did over ride then its a normel hybred)

Its science fiction, so it can have any effect you want

From a raw science standpoint, if a gene eliminated whatever organ that produced the "Warp Energy" or telepathic organ, there is nothing to stop the genestealer from replacing the "defective" gene with its own tyranid version and thus causing the person to lose their pariah status.

It is likely the pariah gene is several genetic sequences that work in tandem, and are recessive. That would explain why it is so rare, but if the goal was a large supply of pariah's to harvest it would have benefitted the C'tan to make it dominant. It could also be caused by damage to the DNA responsible for warp signatures. This could be inherited the same way as various genetic diseases today like sickle cell anemia. As long as a person has a single "good" copy of the genes the would not express the defect. They would require two bad copies in order to express it. In either case genetic alteration to "Fix" or replace a defective gene would cause the person to no longer be a pariah.

Now what will really bake your noodle is if the Genestealer does not override or replace the pariah gene, but inserts new genes to grow a new synaptic node. This would allow the pariah state to remain while attempting to create the node. It would probably cause an autoimmune disease in the person as the two organs would oppose each other and inevitablly kill the host, or one or the other would be forced into "dormancy".

A genestealer can eat all the Pariahs it wants but don't they have to report back to the Norn Queen or something so it can decide which genes are the best for the next evolution?

Genestealer infesteations don't propogate by "eating" anyone they want.  If they can capture someone, and use their limited telepathic power to make them quiet, they are forcibly injected with a semi-viral egg-sack-like thing.   The result is they give birth to a first generation hybrid, which uses its own inborn telepathic tendencies to turn the "nurturing and protective" instinct up to 11, while shutting off as much other stuff as possible.

This is importan, especial when hybrids come out purple, or with claws, or extra limbs.

Anyway, hybrids mature quickly, and are usually geographically centralized, so they tend to breed with each other, creating second gen hybrids, which breed with eachother...  time passes ... pure strain genestealers are born.

Also along the way, one or more genestealer patriarchs develop, which are somewhat bigger (read fatter) and more telepathically powerful, these form the leadership of the infestation, basicly the root of the independent hive mind.  They are primarily responsible for sending the call to the hive fleets.

Newest codex says that brood lords also develop, they are probably on the same level as patriarchs, but more likely are a combat leader rather that an infestation leader, they probably pop up as a response to armed resistance against the infestation.

Classicly, there were also genestealer magus, which were powerful psykers, that cropped up when genestealers originally "impregnated" human psykers.  They remain mostly humanoid, but are able to tap into the power of the hive mind.

So my original question goes back to does the pariah gene get suppressed by genestealer interaction, as fundamentally inimiscible to the genestealer condition, or does it get bred in creating an "anti-magus" for want of a better word.  And if an anti-magus was created, what powers/abilities would it have.

And to answer the why, aside from thinking it is a cool concept, I am also convinced that if I sat on the keyboard and farted i could write better material than C.S. Goto, so I might try some fiction, and would prefer to see what some other fluff nuts think of the possibility.

Hmm, I know there was at least one case where a pariah (or psychic blank), and a genestealer came into contact, and the genestealer couldn't "see" the blank (this was in one of the Commissar Cain stories). The genestealers had trouble "seeing" anybody who happened to be within his deadzone, and if the genestealer(s) for some reason entered that zone they became confused.

So to answer the question: I'm not so sure it could happen.

i'd like to see a mix of eldar and humans personally. would be rather interesting to see (in fiction) which "side" it would fit with. however i think it would probably come out as just some form of mutant as (i belive) that eldar have a different brain chemistry than that of humans. hmm... interesting thread =-)

Do you mean eldar and genestealer?  There is a short story "Elucidium" from the What Price Victory compilation which describes Trikara, a 15th or 16th generation eldar-genestealer hybrid.  It says that it takes genestealer cults in eldar communities many more generations to produce magus-equivalents than is the case for humans.  Because of this they are usually discovered long before they produce their first "magus-farseer".  But eldar-genestealer hybrids are super (x2) fast and cut off heads ALL the time and don't even think twice about it.

I read somewhere that Genestealers can't produce purestrains in Orks- it goes Ork- Hybrid-Hybrid-hybrid-Ork!
Could have been over written though.

And as for all the cross breeding, we're assuming a common biochemical heritage amongst races here.
