Hi there, I've just finished my 500pt no-shooty Tyranid CP, and have noticed that neither my Chessex figure cases nor my GW ones really seem very suitable or useful for these guys. I'm wondering what other people tend to use? Or certainly if anyone has any suggestions?
The Genestealers have that whole 4-arms-a-flailing thing going on, which makes them awkward to fit into anything resmbling a normal figure case.
The Hormagaunts are very long, and might have worked in cavalry-type slots, well, if they weren't connected to their bases by a tiny-thin hoof-edge of weak plastic.
My Warriors are a slight cheat, as I've used three of these, but mounted on 60mm round bases. (as larger bases are allowed for models, and these are the only ones that fit them.) They're roughly the size of a SM dreadnought crouched over like that. But they look damned scary.
I'll photograph the lot of them shortly. As they're nids, I decided to dip them, and went for a coppery/browny/orangy scheme to match the Konami Aliens I used for the Warriors. The nice thing was that I got the lot of them finished in 2 weeks, which is easily some kind of record for me.

I use the sabol army transport. Works like a charm especially since they have deep foam and its fully customizable. I highly recommend it.

Same here. Sabol is what the Hive needs.

Thanks guys, I've seen these in my FLGS but never really looked hard at them, since they're quite expensive, and various combos of my Chessex and GW cases have always worked well till now. Since the GW ones have skyrocketed in price though (and have that embarassing embossed eagle on them which would have been cool if I were 16 or so) I'll check them out in more detail next time I'm in there.

cheers!

One of the guys at my FLGS stores his bugs on clipboards.
He makes all the bases magnetic then glues magnetic sheeting to the clipboard and hangs the clipboards on a nail in his game room.
I'm sure if he were married there'd be a problem but since he's not it works fine.

Magnetic bases are the way to go for odd models that crush easily. Stick a steel washer in every base and lay magnetic sheeting down in some sort of toolbox or tacklebox that fits your minis.

Ahhh, the old debate...

Personally, I advise peel-off magnetized plastic discs for light miniatures (ie. plastic ones) and neodynium magnets for large ones. If you are unsure, go neodynium all the way. You can get a bond as strong as you want and won't scratch paint as a foam-based transport will.
