Hey hey!

Starting my Ork army (slowly), and decided that since I was gonna have multiple trukks anyways, I should convert most from other things so they are unique. I picked up a Dodge Truck WC-62/63 circa WWII made by Italeri, and now I'm wondering, how would YOU make it ORKY?!

Here is the front box art:

I'm planning on leaving off the tarp-top and the cage to hold it up (aka make it open-topped).

Here is a similar model:

Just take out the guys there and imagine some Ork drivers (using usual Boyz bits for the torso up and Fantasy Boar rider legs for the, well, legs) and tada!

It's from the driver area forward that's bothering me, looks too Ford, not enough Ork! So, I beg you folks, HELP!

Da Southern New Hampshire!

Stick two big shootas on each side, cut away the windshield. Plasticard a lot of randomly welded on plasticard. Remove the bumper, add giant spikes.
All the good stuff.

If at first you don't succeed, you fail.

Find an imperial dozer blade for the front. The older kind would work best. I have one if you want it. Put a grot on the hood, that will distract the eye nicely. Maybe add a giant role bar going from one fender up in air in a semi-circle to the other fender. Make two lines of 4 sets of pipes coming strait up through the hood. That way you have orky exhaust for your truck.

Hrrm right now this is sorta the list I'm thinking of:

-Don't put on the
     - Back bars and Canvas top
     - Windshield
     - Maybe the arcing plates over the wheels
     - The Front Bumper
     - The Extra Wheel
     - The wierd grate and lights over the radiator (leave the rad bare to the air)

Then put on three big pointy iron bars (made from sprue) on the front (like three big teeth right over the radiator), make a rokkit-launcha for the gunner (make the driver and gunner)

I KNEW there was something super-Orky I couldn't remember! EXHAUST PIPES! Thanks Cuda1179! The 4 pipes just sticking out doesn't sound very cool looking right now (but I think I'm picturing something different, or that I haven't given it enough thought yet!). I think that once I add some exhaust pipes, and a grot rigger or two, it will look truly Green!

And thanks for the offer of the Dozer Blade, but I really like the bars I've already made:
The bars (with the camera sideways)    The Bars (turned on their side so you can see the slant of the point)

And, since I felt like getting my webcam a workout, here are links to the sprues (figured they'd take up too much space on the page)

Sprue 2
Sprue 3
Sprue 4
Sprue 5

The 2 obvious things I see are to remove the front fenders and wrap some treads around the rear wheels, halftrack style.
And pieces with rounded edges (the hood) could be replaced with a plasticard version of the same size, but with straight edges.
Also, try building up the engine so that it sticks out of the hood. Orks always like bigger engines.
The ram/hedgecutter from the old imperial vehicle sprue would look good on the front as well.
Ok, thats more than 2, but you get the idea

I saw a guy who customized his ork vehicles by cutting out pieces of soda cans and shaping them how he wanted as armored plates.  It looked good once he painted it, and it was dirt cheap, just watch your fingers.

eldritchzephyr i don't want to sound like i'm going off topic but i'm surprised i haven't seen someone take a monster truck model (if not just for the engine, chassis, & wheels) & make an ORK vehicle of some sort ?!? i think that would look cool. oh no, now someone has to do it before i go buy stuff for another army i haven't even started yet!!!

There was an army featured in White Dwarf that did this.
