In preparation for "Combat Squads" becoming the norm for Marines, I'm tempted to use the Dark Angels rules (minus stuff for Deathwing/Ravenwing) as the rules for my Ultramarines.   Half because I expect to need to adapt to a codex redux, and because I'm looking to challenge myself somewhat and use DA rules.

Per my normal list building guidelines I wanted the list to be tough, but not something stupid broken, so here's what I came up with:

Master of Sanctity Chaplain, Jump Pack - 120

10 Marines, Plasma Cannon/Plasma Gun, Power Fist - 220
10 Marines, Plasma Gun, Power Fist - 205
Rhino Transport, Extra Armor - 50

10 Assault Marines, Power Fist - 260

Predator Destructor (Autocannon/Heavy Bolter Sponsons) - 95
10 Devastators, 4 Lascannons (Breaks into 2 Five man Squads) - 305
10 Devastators, 4 Missile Launchers (Breaks into 2 Five man Squads) - 245

The list is decidedly shooty (like most non CC chapter marines are) but it's got some potent assault elements in the way of 3 hidden power fists and a chaplain.

I'd like to think that this list could actually do well in a tournament, with the chance of standing up to nasties like "the big bugs" and other similar nasty lists (Mech Eldar/Tau/etc).

I'd look at going for more of the cheap predators, and fewer Devs...get your heavies in combat squads, where they have warm bodies to shield them. I dunno if it would fit in the pts, But I'd suggest 3 preds, 2 "nuke pattern" tactical squads (lascannon-PGun) and 2 "rhino-borne" (Meltagun-Vetsarge) tactical squads. Fill out the rest with whatever goodies you desire.

Looks pretty good, you have 50 marines in that 1500 point list so not bad. I would switch the plasma gun for a melta on the rhino squad as it will give you some more close range anti-tank and can shoot before assault. With the saved 5 points you can give your Chaplain melta bombs to go tank hunting or put a second storm bolter on your Rhino.

Looks really good. I might try that as the base for my DA.

Looks pretty good Voodoo, I came up with something like this on the fly (based on rumors and such). I don't have the codex so the points may not be spot on.

Master of the Ravenwing- 205

2x 10 Tac Marines- lascannons, meltas, powerfists (combat squaed out - pf and melta is the rhino) (440?)
2x Rhinos- smoke ( 76?)

10 Assault Marines- powerfist (260)
1 Tornados (85?)

2x Predator Destructors - (190)
10 Marines- 4 Missile Launchers (245)
