I'm building some terrain, and I'd like to both make some mine fields, and also make my own version of Forgeworld's "Servo-skull-landmine booby-trap" piece.
I remember years ago having a bunch of then-useless mines from one of the Tamiya or other similar company's accessory kits, though of course now that I have a use for them, they seem to have disappeared completely.
Off to the web, and I've found it surprisingly difficult to track down any 1/35 kits with landmines. I could make my own with sprue and fantasy shields and so forth, but I'd rather use "proper" ones, because of the extra detail. So, I turn to Dakka, in wondering if anyone can recommend any specific kits with 1/35 landmines (I don't mind if they also have barrels, jerrycans, etc) and possibly places where I could purchase said kits.

Okay, I read this about 15 minutes ago and have been wracking my brain (and googling) for info. I also remember owning a few 1/35 scale landmines, although I can't recall who made them and it must have been years ago when I was still military modeling.

Sorrry i can't help but I'm also interested to see if anyone finds something....

Didn't the Black Gobbo or some other GW Hobby article show how to make a minefield terrain piece using bitz and scraps of sprue? I want to say they mostly used round sprue bitz, some wire, as well as some foam craters to create the piece. Perhaps add some 1/4' to 1/2" diameter round cut outs from 1mm thick plasticard that have the edges rounded off and a 1/8" or so round detenator on top (scale rivet heads would be good for this) and viola: an anti-tank mine. Or go the Iraqi insurgent route and come up with various IEDs.

But if you absolutely refuse to scratch build this and insist on a pre-made product, Tamiya and Dragon both have several 1/35 accessory kits for WW2 infantrymen that include at least a couple mines on their sprues (specifically, Tamiya's "German Infantry Weapons Set" which has 4 tellermines, two each of the M35 Steel Tellermine and M43 Mushroom Head Tellermine amonst a whole slew of other infantry weapons)

Yeah, as I said I can easily scratchbuild some reasonable quality ones myself (better than the BG article ones) as I have an ample supply of the older round shields and also the little shield bosses that came with the old plastic skeletons, but I'm really wanting to make something of equivalent quality, based heavily (read: ripped off from) this piece:

(sorry, can't get links to work with this editor)

I think the German Infantry Weapons Set is the one I used to have and am after actually. My wife is going into town on Wednesday this week, and this way I get her to go to the model store and let her know specifically what to ask for instead of a vague description and then whatever they decide to sell her. I couldn't remember how many mines the kit came with, so if it's only about 8 I'll probably scratchbuild the minefields and just use the Tamiya ones for more detailed "above ground" scenery pieces like this one.

Same reason I just bought a pack of the GW razor wire.

And I will be making some model IEDs Though, what do they tend to look like? I imagine them as being pretty well hidden and variable, but can't imagine what they'd look like well enough to be obvious on the games table while looking "hidden", aside from, say a pipe bomb. Jerry cans bundled together with some sort of detonator apparatus modelled on would work I guess - bits from the SM vehile sprue, I just need a more detailed, "real" looking mine for the servo-skull piece.

Quite a few military model kits come with a few, usually for a soldier to carry, but I've never seen a box full of them. (Outide of horribly expensive resin ones.)

I use old watch batteries upside down for my landmines. Look alot like forgeworlds.
