So the "Red BloK" are Russia? Complete with Russian special forces? Not terribly original, but cool if well executed.

Red Blok is Communist, but not Russian.

Potaytoe, potahtoe.  Those names dont help your argument at all, Tovarishch.

The names imply more russian connotations (more specifically, eastern european/slovak), than they do communist ideals. (spetznatz, kossack, krasni are all eastern european names terms, not singular to communisim)

They have RPG-7

And it is a little bit problematic to call the UNA or Red Blok USA or Russia, since the UNA is rather based on a mixture of higher evolved UNO and 3rd Reich (heck, they even have the same clothing as German paratroopers of WWII) and Red Blok is rather a mixture EU and ealry 20th century Russia.

I noticed that the human guys in AT-43 had a look that was very reminiscent of Warzone/Mutant Chronicles' Bauhaus guys.

Yep, Bauhaus was also inspired by german WWII troops.

Oh yes, I know that. Just that the AT-43 guys reminded me of the Bauhaus designs much moreso than they did of Wehrmacht, etc.

This thread is useless without pics.

He's got a mind like a steel trap. By which I mean it can only hold one idea at a time;
it latches on to the first idea to come along, good or bad; and it takes strenuous effort with a crowbar to make it let go.

Why why why do the AT-43 humans look so....froopy???

That first red blok trooper looks like he's trying to squeeze off more than just a few rounds, and the second guy is grimacing so hard because his helmet is too small, its cutting off the circulation to his head!

Not sold on the first guy, but the second guy looks fine. The AT-43 stuff is more realistically-proportioned then GW's 28mm gumby-men.

I'd buy some if they were more reasonably-priced.

Have you seen the prices for AT-43 infantry compared to GW's multipart kits? They don't compare favorably to plastic Marines, let alone Imperial Guardsmen.

I have no major issues with their sculpts, nor with pre-painted, but the AT-42 stuff ranges from slightly more expensive to GW's stuff to a LOT more expensive. They're unfortunately not so much better than their GW counterparts to justify the more expensive prices as the metal Confrontation figures are.

I'll leave it there, as I don't want to tangent this thread into a price comparison debate.

Well PP is with the infantry slightly more expensive, agreed. But try getting something like the Defenders Snake for 40 Euros from GW.

Also.... with AT-Infantry I can switch parts to get wysiwyg. Heads go easily with UNA for improved targetting and with carpaces I can switch between normal trroper and leader. And if you are not to unskilled you can make the arms of the carpaces exchangable.

Slightly off-topic...
I played my first game of AT-43 yesterday, using the full rulebook (not the one that comes in the starter set); and I am going to have to change my sig line. The game has a depth and complexity that I found refreshing, but the rules are very straightforward and easy to understand.

Oh, that one. That's a nice one, I have to admit. If it's priced more like the ones without the missile racks and less like the Alien ones I'll probably pick one up...

And if you play M.Ind, or any army where an officer can 'markerlight' a target, you'll want more than one...

I'll have to see how that translates once it actually hits these shores.
Is that the same price as the Fire Toad or the, um, Undead guy's dreadnought-thing? And does it come with a tonka shipping container like the others do?

The Fire Toad is 29,- in Germany, the Wraith Golgoth 40,- and the Defenders Snake above 40,- (with 19% german tax). And it comes with a container, don´t know if it has an alternative weapon set included.
