Go and watch it.  Then ask yourself, "Why does this look more like 40k than 40k ever did?"

You know what would be awesome?!?!?

If Russ made a Video Games section for Dakka, and put it right after Starship Troopers and before Warmachine/Hordes.

I'm going to tell him to get on that.

Huh?  Please tell me you're trying to be ironic.  If not I encourage you to look up the dates on all the GW fluff books (inside the front cover), go back to the RT era, then check out when Blizzard was formed, let alone made a non-side-scrolling game.

Sigh.

Wasn't the story that it was independently DESIGNED to be a 40k game, but Blizzard was nobody at the time, and GW declined to license to them? So Blizzard had to change their stuff a little to not match GW too closesly, and GW missed out on being part of ridiculous money.

Yeah, that was GW's typical mistake. Doesn't stop Starcraft from being a near complete rip off. They've even added some stuff from Macross into this new game.

Trust me, no matter what damage they have the potential to do, single-shot weapons always flatter to deceive in 40k.                                                                                                       Rule #1

Since you brought it up...

There is a Robotech live action movie in the preproduction stages. Toby Maguire is signed on and his production company is playing some part.

I wasn't really to enthused about SC2 until I saw video of a zerg rush with the new engine. Wow, that's a lot of Zerglings.

I really didn't like Starcraft. What kept me playing was that the plot was excellent and, in typical Blizzard style, the 3D movies were top notch. The game itself though was boring and repetetive to the nth degree. I ended up using cheats to skip most of the Protoss missions just to see what happened next in the plot as the missions were so dull.

Additionally I hate games where everything must be researched from scratch at the beginning of each mission. It's the main reason I hate Starcraft, and the main reason I despise the Age of Empires games. I tollerate it in Dawn of War, but only because it's a 40K game with 7 completely different races in it.

That said, even with all that, SC2 does look interesting. Blizzard may have trouble coming up with their own ideas, but for the plot and movies alone I will play this game.
