I decided that as the my next campaign is going to involve some city fighting, it was high time I painted my city table. If you follow the link below, the first two pictures are from Saturday morning. The rest are from this afternoon. I am very excited. It's even cooler in RL, IMO. It's really fun when you make something and it's even cooler than you thought it would be. There are three additional sections that I don't have space for all painted up too. Anyway, the link and a sneak preview: https://home.comcast.net/~tfieldiii/City/

Dude! You painted this all in a weekend?! Seriously awesome stuff. I love the colors. This makes me want to sit down and finish painting my cityfight table...What is the red you've used? And it's nice to see more street painting ^_^! You might have just put my foothills project back a week now....I swear I'll never be able to stay focused so long as I frequent this site...

Thanks guys. Except syr, I hate you too. :p I was surprised how fast it went too. Nice to paint a big thing where not every little detail needs to be clean and perfect like the Eldar. GD - you're probably the reason I painted this and not the Tomb Kings I should have, so serves you right. The red is saddle brown from the Vallejo.

Is the table modular at all? It looks like some of the buildings and the bridge are...?

Very. It is in two halves that can be rotated relative to one another and all the building sections are on 1x1 trays and fit into holes on the board. I have 3 extra buildings as well as these, so the combinations are more or less endless.

Wow, that is some great terrain Scarab! Any chance of some close up pictures of those buildings? I particularly like that your crater shows sub surface detail, and the basement/trenches look very interesting as well. I would however suggest that you tone the yellow stripes down slightly, with the city shot to heck like it is, it seems like the paint would be more worn. Where did you get the hexagonal columns from?

Very nice, great job. I wish I had the space for something like this, what is the tables dimensions(it doesn't look 4x8)?

Lasgunpacker, glad you are able to notice the details in the pics. I should get some close pics when I shoot our campaign battle this week. I'll post some here if they are decent. The resin bits are all Crusader29, who evidently is out of business. Too bad as it was relatively cheap and looked good. On the yellow, that's pics for you; it's been heavily weathered and worn, rather than looking like the paint truck went by after the battle. The whole table is actually a bit more subded and ragged in RL.
Lyquis, it is indeed 4x8'.
Thanks for the feedback.

Between you, Nightserpent and myself, we are the only people on dakka (and possibly on the internet as a whole) who own Crusader 29 buildings. Not bad stuff, but the guy was a douche to deal with. The only redeeming factor is that this stuff paints up quickly. The detail being only on one side of the walls is a huge detraction. When you mix GW COD buildings to the mix, it really gives the Crusader29 resin alot more depth (and vice versa). Its not necessary to do so, but it helps. Looks great man. I thought you painted these years ago. Like, before Migsula came to visit. Or are you terminally lazy, like me? (i.e. sit on stuff for atleast 6 years then suddenly one day paint and build it all)

Nightserpent has some lovely well-detailed buildings based on these. Where are pics of yours? You are right, I painted them years ago, but had not corrected the lack of detail you mention. I also painted them less well, glued them with the wrong glue, and moved, and there were many casualties! So, I rebuilt them all with more detail, built a proper table for them, primed everything and started over.

Well to lessen your safari frustrations here comes double praise from me. Lovely work and I would absolutely love to play on that terrain, or better still own something as impressive. My own terrain collection is slowly building, but is currently more restricted by space to store/use it than anything else. Some day after graduation though...

WOW Nice scarab! Actually Hellfury my work bought a bunch of them when he was still in business. The guy who built them didn't bother to sand them though so the window sills don't line up.

I understand that the Crusader 29 terrain isn't made anymore, but can any of you recommend any retailers that might still have some stock left over? I tried searching on the internet, but only found one link to the list of buildings made through brookhurst hobbies.

Wow, that is incredible. Not only does it look good, but unlike a lot of terrain that gets built it looks like you can easily place and remove models from the ruins, without chipping paint or breaking the terrain. I guess I could look at it long enough and find something to crticize, but that would just make my attempt at foam rocks and converted aquarium plants look that much more pathetic. Very nice

Thanks Grignard. It's a bit of a balance trying to create the concept that there is rubble around without littering the area with a realistic amount of rubble and thus making the table impossible to play on.
