Tonight I played my room mate's necron list with my plague marine based chaos. A fight to the death with two armies of 3+ save tough guys. The game was 1400 points and was sorta a tester for a tournement I'm going to play in later in the week. I've had to change things around because the stuff I ordered hasn't arrived. So here's my list: HQ: Daemon Prince with Wings, Mark of Nurgle and Winds of Chaos Elites: 2 Squads of three Terminators (1 Champion, 1 Powerfist, 1 Reaper, Icon of Chaos Glory. 1 Squad gets combimeltas.) Troops: 8 Plague Marines (1 Champion with powerfist, 2 Plasma, Icon, Possessed Rhino) 9 Plague Marines (1 Champion with powerfist, 2 meltas, Icon, Possessed Rhino) 5 Lesser Daemons Heavy Support: Land Raider My opponents list was something like this: HQ: Lord with Ressurection Orb and the Veil thingy that denies attacks on the charge. Elites: 6 Flayed Ones Troops: 3x12 Necron Warriors Fast Attack: 6 Scarab swarm bases in a single unit Heavy Support: 2 Single Heavy Destroyers 1 Monolith Mission: Secure and Control, Gamma Level. 3 Loot counters, one in the middle and then one closer to each of our deployment zones. Set Up: We were playing on a 4x4 board with 5 largish ruined buildings on it, providing ample cover. He won deployment and set up in a firing line. Two squads of warriors were on the centre and left flank, his lord in the centre unit. His Heavy Destroyers sat behind the warriors on the flanks and the scarabs were on the right flank. The monolith and one squad of warriors were held in reserve. I set up one rhino on the left centre behind some ruins, the other on the right centre behind some ruins. The Landraider (Containing the termies with combi meltas) was on the left (facing off against the heavy destroyer and swarms) with the Daemon Prince on the right facing off against a squad of warriors. My Termies without combi weapons and daemons were in reserve. His flayed ones infiltrated within 12" of my Daemon Prince. Turn one. I won first turn and advanced. My landraider rumbled slowly forward on the right gaining a LOS on the heavy destroyer. The centre rhinos advanced to the first loot counter and disgorged their cargos. The Daemon prince glided over to the Flayed Ones and lined up on them for some Burnination. I used winds of chaos on his flayed ones, killing 2. The combi bolters on the rhinos failed to do any damage, and my plague marines were out of range. My land raider zzapped the destroyer and killed it dead. My Daemon Prince then assualted and finished off the flayed ones. My opponent then advanced with all his units and shot at my lord with a heavy destroyer, failing to damage him. The scarab swarms moved in front of the land raider. Turn Two. I rolled reserves and my termies came in 6 inches from the plague marines and dead in front of the necrons in the centre. The Daemons then passed their reserve roll and leapfrogged the extra 6" from the Termies at the squad! I flew my daemon prince straight at the enemy squad. The melta wielding plague marines slogged forward at the necrons in the centre, behind the Terminators. The other squad sat pretty on the loot counter. The land raider disgorged it's Terminators beside the swarms. In the shooting phase my Prince again unleashed the winds of chaos on the unlucky necrons, downing 3. The plague marines and terminators shot at the central squad but did little in the way of damage (I think one necron downed?) an the land raider made short work of two swarm bases, with the termies accounting for another. Assault moves brought the daemon prince and the daemons into the left and central necron squad. The daemons, denied their bonus attacks, bounced horribly doing no damage and losing 3 of their number in return. Outnumbering wounds finished off their ill fated assault. The Daemon Prince did much better, smashing down 3 of his foes to no losses. The necrons passed their morale checks. The terminators crushed the swarms in base contact and consolidated towards their land raider. His reserve rolls brought in the monolith in the centre of the board, floating atop the highest building. I dropped it's squad in front of the terminators. The heavy destroyer behind the left squad retreated. The monolith missed with it's ordinance. Thank Nurgle! The massed fire of the necrons downed two terminators and a single plague marines. In combat, the prince knocked down another couple of necrons to suffer one wound (!). Turn 3. The Terminator and melta wielding plague marines close on the newly deep striked necrons as the plasma wielding squad moved up to support as the terminators with combi meltas ran underneath the monolith. In shooting the land raider and meltaguns shot at the monolith scoring two glancing hits, resulting in two stunned results. The melta marines shot at the necrons they were closing on and inflicted not many causulties (it gets a bit hazy with exact numbers because stuff was falling down and getting back up from now on and it was confusing). The plasma gunners scored 3 hits on themselves and killed one necron. In assualt my marines downed a few necrons to no losses and the prince killed all but four of the squad he was fighting, and yet they held! The necrons focused fire on the unengaged plague marines but failed to wound any. The monolith blasted the land raider and immobilised and stunned it. The melee continued in the centre, with no losses to the plague marines who were slowly whittling down the necron numbers. Turn 4. The plama wielding squad ran in at the Lord's squad, firing at them and downing a couple. The terminators moved closer to the central melee. The melee continued. The daemon prince was left with one oppoent who broke and was killed in the initiative roll off. The melta armed plague marines killed almost all of the necrons from the deep striked squad. The monolith missed again! The remaining Heavy destroyer made up for it by zzapping my lord for a wound from behind. Turn Five: The Daemon Prince hopped in front of the Lord and his squad, preparing for some nasty spewing of psychic energy. The plasma armed plague marines closed the last distance to the Lord's squad, as the terminators closed in behind. In the shooting phase the Daemon prince managed to botch his test on a double six, but avoided being wounded. The land raider failed to damage the monolith again. In melee the Daemon Prince hit the Lord for a wound, and took none in return. The plasma armed squad failed to do anything, as did the necrons they were fighting. The melta armed squad finished off the deep strikers. The monolith pulled the lord and his squad out of melee, and they redeployed surrounded on all sides by plague marines, terminators and a daemon prince. They shot everything they had at the terminators, killing two, and the monolith obliterated 4 of the plague marines from the plasma armed squad. We counted the remaining Necrons and realised that one more causulty would cause a phase out. Turn six. The daemon prince moved into position along with the remaining terminator. Everything shot the remaining necron squad. Under the storm of fire 7 necrons fell, leaving three and the lord still on their feet. The Daemon Prince and Terminator then charged in and finished him off. The land raider shot at the Monolith (mostly because I was confident I had it in the bag and wanted to see if I could kill the blasted thing) and failed to damage it. My friend rolled his We'll Be Back Rolls the next turn and it was over as the last 3 necrons and the Monolith, as well as the Lord, phased out of existence, leaving the loot to the favoured of Nurgle. Analysis: Well, to be honest that went exactly to plan. I was lucky as hell with my reserve rolls, but then so was my friend. The lesser daemons bouncing was dissapointing, I must bring them in bigger units in future. The sprawling central melee worked in my favour as he couldn't focus fire on my squads, and I was lucky that the monolith missed on the turn it arrived- the extra causulties could have swung it. The terminators had a bit of a glass jaw, but did their job. My force definitely lacks a serious answer to monoliths- I could see slight trouble with an army that dropped the useless and expensive flayed ones and destroyers and brought in a second 'lith. If my friend made a mistake it was remaining too static in the centre and allowing himself to be dragged into the central fight. He also underestimated the speed and killing potential of a daemon prince with wings and the "death flamer" as we call it. The Prince was Otherworldly Tyrant of the match without a doubt, and I may take him instead of Typhus in my tournement list in future, even if Typhus arrives in time. I had fun playing 40K (!)and it was only my third time playing necrons which was interesting. So the new book gets a thumbs up from me. Any comments? Did we get the rules right? My friend is relatively new to 40K and I hadn't played in a while so I hope there were no glaring mistakes.

Good luck with that tournament, and I gotta say 1400 is a pretty weird points value for one, but who can say. Will be tossing my Undivided chaos into a 1500 tourny Dec 15th, but need to finally paint up my defiler before then ...
On your list, a little surprised to see no possession on the land raider (but on both rhinos!), but perhaps you like your BS4 or don't want to shuffle points around. Considering it's caring some deadly cargo I figure at least extra armor is a must - and at just 5 points more possession is a no brainer.
