Plummeting Black Templar Thunderhawk Pilot

Hiya, I've been playing against someone who fields Eldar and need some help with the rules for his eldar snipers as I'm not sure if my opponent is playing them right.
Basically he always put them in woods or ruins to give them the 5+ or 4+ cover save.
He then gives them an ability that increases their saves by +2, giving them a standard 2+ armour save.
The thing that I'm questioning is that he says it also applies to the cover save as well which I think is very odd as although they aren't overpowered it makes killing them harder than killing terminators. And that rending on a 5 or 6 can be very damaging.
Is this true??
If yes how can I prove it as I do not have a Eldar Codex, ie to point out page numbers etc
Cheers very much

Basically, yes, it's true, Eldar Rangers/Pathfinders get a bonus to their cover saves. No codex at work tho so someone else will have to kick in the codex page number.

Page 38. Note that this only applies to cover saves, not armour saves. Also, the rifles don't rend on a 5 or 6 (or just a 6 for normal Rangers). They just ignore armour saves when this happens.

Yeah, 2+ cover saves on pathfinders are annoying. That's why you need to embrace the flamer and heavy flamer. Flamers don't allow any cover save ; ) I don't remember if the pathfinder save is 5+ or 4+, but since I usually torch pathfinders with a HF on a dropping dread or a Land Speeder, I don't have any problems.

? Just checking, you know a speeder can't shoot the turn it drops in, right?

Yeah, sorry that was just a grammatical mistake. I don't usually drop my speeders, so I forgot when I was writing that you can deepstrike them. Sorry for the poor sentence structure.
