I've got a force of 36 Chaos terminators to assemble for an Apocalypse Chaos Annihilation Force, and I'm wondering how to distribute the various weapons I've got. After reading this thread: http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/206005.page, I've decided to split them into the following units:

1)10 termies, MoK
2)10 termies, MoN
3)10 termies, MoT
4)6 termies, MoS

I've got 6 Reaper Autocannons and one Heavy Flamer, which divides nicely at 2 Reapers for each of the 10-termie units, leaving the HF for the Slaanesh squad. Most of the other weapons I have are combibolters (which I'll probably convert into combiplasmas with PP bitz) and power weapons, but I've got probably 4 or 5 each of combimeltas and combiflamers, as well as about 6 PFs and 6 ChFs. I think only one or two LCs, though I've got an extra Abaddon right-hand LC as well.

I'm of the idea to pair each Reaper with a Chainfist, just to give each of the 10-man units some close-in antitank power. Aside from that though, I'm not sure. Should the MoK unit get all of the PFs? With maybe paired LCs for the Khorne AC? Since the Khorne unit would be the real 'anti-hard target' unit, should I give all the combimeltas to them?

For the Nurgle unit I'm thinking all PWs (other than the ChFists on the reapers) and combiplasma. Maybe a PF on the AC.

The Tzeentch unit is likely going to be the longest lasting unit that will shoot over multiple rounds...I'm wondering if I should perhaps leave them with combibolters instead of upgrading to combiplasma. The idea being that the twinlinking is worth it if they get three rounds of shooting, whereas after a combiplas shot they're left with single bolters. Though that one plasma shot or double-tap is nice, and it's only 50 points to upgrade the squad...

The small Slaanesh unit will get all PWs and maybe an LC on the champ. Maybe a PF on the Heavy Flamer guy just to have one in there. I was thinking of piling all the combiflamers in here, but with the HF that's a crazy number of templates and will ensure they don't get the charge. Otherwise combiplasma?
I'll probably attach the Lord (marked with Chaos Glory, combimelta / demon weapon) to the Slaanesh squad, so they all have I5 in combat (to prevent annoying casualty-removal trix).

So what I need the advice of the dakka community on is this:
Where to put the combiflamers and combimeltas - maybe scatter a couple of each into each squad? Same with PFs...should probably put one in the Slaaneshi squad, which lacks ChFists; but should I stack the Khorne unit with all the rest, or scatter a couple into each squad? And should I upgrade the Tzeentch termies to combiplasma or leave them with combibolters for more consistent firepower?

Thanks in advance for any advice!

Mabye instead of 10 10 10 6 you could split them up by the chaos gods favorite numbers, for even more fluff. Also this is just me, but mabye nurgle should have the flamers, as they are the toughest to kill, they might actually reach close enough to use them!

Also power weapons for the slanesh termies to take advantage of higher innish, power fists for khorne for more attacks, and the reapers on the shooty tzeench who benefit from better invun saves, thus make the best firing base.

warhammer 40k mmo. If I can drive an ork trukk into the back of a space marine dread and explode in a fireball of epic, I can die happy!

@ Orock - Unfortunately fluffy squad size means that nobody can take 2 reaper autocannons, as the second is only available to squads of 10

@ Strange - I like your ideas for distributing weapons, etc. I think plopping 4 fists into the khorne (+2 chainfists), 2 fists into the nurgle (+2 chainfists), no fists into the tizz (+2 chainfists), and some lightning claws into slaanesh (+1 chainfist on heavy flamer) is the way to go. Fluffy, and meets their in game rolls more or less - khorne is heaviest of combat hitters, nurgle is all around tough but also destined for combat, tizz is fire support, slaanesh is I5 ftw.

Those are good recommendations Boss, thanks!

Yeah, need the 10-termie squads to get full use of the reapers. Also, they could each be fielded as 2x5-termie squads with one reaper each, though the Icons would be prohibitively expensive in that case.

What about combiplasma vs combibolters on the Tzeentch termies? And distribution of combimeltas/flamers in the other squads?

Put a couple of combi meltas into the slannesh termies, they are fast enough to survive cc and there are normaly tanks, dreads, transports lurking near the infantry, also pop a transport see what falls out then charge it and slice away.

its not enough to win others must fail!!

In an Apoc game you should take as many reapers and combimeltas as you can, then take as many powerfists to. There is no points limit so go all out.

In a regular game I have thought that 10 Terminators with power weapons and combi-bolters was a good buy. That's 10 Termies for 300pts (about 60pts more than a 5-man loyalist squad with 2 assault cannons). They have a different roll when naked, but might be worth it.

I also envision 5 of them all with combi-meltas as backfield teleporters to take out armor. That unit is only 175pts for the 5.

In normal games he best marks ar Tzeentch and Glory. 2+/4+ is very resilient. I suppose Slaanesh is a good mark if you were to make a bunch of them have paired lightning claws. 5 of them coming out of a land raider with lightning claws and mark of slaanesh would be devastating against marines.

Ok, considering all the advice and recounting all the various weapons that I've got available, this is what I've decided to go with:

10 Khorne Termies: 2 Reapers w Chainfists, 1 Champ with twin LCs, 4 Combimeltas with Chainfists, 3 Combiflamers with PFs
10 Nurgle Termies: 2 Reapers with PFs, 1 Champ with Combiflamer and Chainfist, 7 Combiplas with PW
10 Tzeentch Termies: 2 Reapers with PFs, 1 Champ with Combiflamer and Chainfist, 7 Combiplas with PW
6 Slaaneshi Termies: 1 Reaper with PF, 1 Champ with twin LCs, 2 Combimelta with PW, 2 Combiflamer with PW

This gets me one squad with each mark, which is nice.

I figure the Khorne termies will go after vehicles (especially superheavies) or MCs, since they're all PF/ChF except the Champ. The Nurgle and Tzeentch will shoot heavy infantry with a withering blast of plasma and then squat on objectives and plink with their Reapers and/or bolters until charged. The Slaaneshis will try to pop a vehicle on the teleport, then go charging into MEQs or other high value infantry that have Init 4.

The meltas are better in pairs or more, and I only have 6 of them, so I put 4 with the Khornes and 2 with the Slaaneshi. I put all the combiplas (from converted combibolters) into the sit and shoot squads - the champs there got combiflamers instead of meltas because I didn't want to have just a single melta in a squad, and I don't want a champ to get melted by his own plasma. Besides, I figure at some point those squads might get whittled down to just the champ, and with a flamer and a chainfist he can threaten both light infantry and vehicles on his lonesome.

One drawback of putting the only Chainfist in a squad on the champ, is that I'd be unwilling to risk him for Death or Glory. But I'd probably rather just move out of the way and then charge the vehicle on the following turn anyways - I'd much rather chance LD10 roll than risk autofailing morale by messing up Death or Glory

I also have 3 Heavy Flamers - I will probably magnet up the Reapers from the Khorne and Slaaneshi squad so they can be swapped with HFs.

My Chaos Termie Lord model is an older metal one with a combimelta, daemon weapon and icon of Undivided - uh, Glory. I will probably leave him like that and join him to the Slaanesh squad so that they all will strike at the same initiative (to avoid clever attack-denial-by-casualty-removal trix). I suppose I could give him a Nurgle, Tzeentch or Khorne mark - not sure if it's worth it though.
