I'm writing up a 1500 Pt. list for my new orks, and I'm looking for some advice in improving the roster. Right off the bat I'll say that this isn't a competitive list at all, nor was it intended to be; what I'd like is to take the concept and make it more effective (I guess you could call it semi-competitive?).

HQ:
WB w/ Mega Armor, Bosspole

Big Mek w/ KFF, choppa

Elites:
8x Lootas

3x Meganobs, two with combi-weapons

Troops:
20x Slugga Boys, Nob with Klaw, 2 Big shootas

20x Shoota Boys, Nob with klaw, 2 Rokkits

10x Shoota Boys, Nob (no klaw)

Heavy Support:
2 dreads, both with big shootas (these should go in troops, but I'll just write them here for easyness)

3 kans, all with rokkits

This list is entirely based off the models that I own, so its pretty basic and has a lot of room for improvement. I love the concept of the horde army, and I'd rather like to keep that. I'd also like to keep my boss in his mega-armour, although his meganobz bodyguard could get replaced no problem. I love my kans and dreads too, so I'll be keeping those around. Aside from that, I'm open to any ideas. My immediate problems with the list that I can see is a lack of anti-armor (not many rokkits, no bustas), and the fact that I've got nothing that moves even slightly fast. If its at all possible I'd like to keep it that way (I can't see a horde army zooming about in trukks) but if I'm going to get trounced every game if I don't have them, I'll take them. The warboss is also very, very slow. Thanks in advance!

The meganobs are kind of a point sink and imo the only warboss to take is the bikerboss. Lootas are cool but you need at least 15. Maybe try a warphead instead of a boss?
If your gonna footslog it dont bother with sluggas just shootas and a mob of only 10 will suffer from leadership issues early on. One thing i have always learned is take a klaw on any nob you can. Also i would drop the big shootas and take more rokkits.
Other than that i cant see much wrong. I like the idea of the dreads and the kans to kinda over load them, just be careful or they will get shot to hell. But im not great with orks yet and i wanted to do the kos so i could be wrong.

This is silly! Buttons are not how one escapes dungeons! I would smash the button and rain beatings liberally down on the wizard for playing such a trick!

I figured the meganobs would be a point of contention; I can see why they'd be a big chunky (not to mention SLOW) target. I love the idea of a biker boss, but I'd rather see him in a dedicated COS army. The 10-ork mob was just 70 points I had left over, I'm sure shaving off the meganobz will let me bring them up to snuff. I'll take your suggestion though; I'll get rid of the big shootas and replace em with Rokkits.

I also forgot to list my other heavy support choice; thats a mob of Flash Gitz, 8 strong, shootier/more dakka, with a Painboss. I used these guys in my list before the new codex and I've always had excellent payout from them (I did some reading on them, and they're apparently poor on a competitive stage, so I can consider dropping them). I figured more lootas would be in order, so I'll make sure to grab some more of them. Love the models, too!

I'm still worried about the army's mobility, though. I'd rather not take speedy units if it can be avoided, but if I'm not going to see any results (I'm going by your opinions on this one) I'll bite the bullet and take a trukk or two. Could it work?

EDIT: the Big Mek w/ KFF is nice, but I LOVE the SAG too. Which one would be better?

I think a footslogging army can work, but I've played with it and I have to agree with the general consensus on here- mobs need to be 30 strong. I got destroyed in my first game against Nidzilla because my mobs were all 20 strong and they took maybe 10 causulties (which will easily happen as I'm sure you know) and ran, because we no longer get to test mob size and leadership, it's one or the other, so the mobs are less likely to hang around. Mob up being gone also contributes to this. So I'd say if you drop the meganobs to boost your squads up to 30 each.
I don't like the dreads much, but it's your army concept so go with it! (I get the playing with slightly uncompetitive units thing...I recently bought some meganobs and now they are in my tourney list, even though I know they are sub optimal! )

Fair enough; I think you've got a good plan there with the 30 strong mobs. I'll make sure to put those in.
