I was recently on the GW website reading something (I can't remember what) when the article that I was reading mentioned the Drookian Fen Guard. Of course, my initial reaction was something along the lines of "Oh my, another strange name. hahaha. Sooo...what the hell are they?"
So I went to google and typed their name in. I clicked a link that took me to the Lexicanum (great site if you love 40k fluff) and it talked about them. From the text describing them and the sole picture of a Drookian Fen Trooper, I basically came to the conclusion that they are based on Scottish Highlanders. How cool is that?! So then I thought to myself, "What in the seven Hells of Chaos are you waiting for? Personal Orders from the Emperor Himself? Convert yourself a Drookian Fen Guard army already!" So I now have my next project, and once I have enough money, I am gonna make mylself some Drookian Fen Troopers! So far on my list of musts I have William Wallace type personality with a giant Claymore (The sword, not the explosive device hahaha), and plaid tartans. Any other suggestions?
Ideas would be great.

You could take some of the Chaos Marauder heads with all the beards and long flowing hair to use with I guess Cadian bodies with some green stuff modifications for the tartans.

Sounds like a very cool idea. if you don't mind using LOTR components (and by extension, not use them in any GW tournaments) the Gondor in Flames expansion had some Highlander type figures. Don't know if they're out yet, but here's a link:

I haven't been able to find any good pics of marauder heads...I'll just have to make a stop in at the local GW store and see what kind of Fantasy stuff they have. I'm thinking that Catachans+Cadians+WH Fantasy models+Green Stuff will do the job nicely. Thanks for the suggestion
Does anyone have any other Ideas for my Imperial clansmen?

It's kinda like a cross between chem-dogs, tanith, catachans and Highlanders IMO

Which is great if you're Victoria Lamb....unfortunately, most of the rest of the Warhammer-playing world have only a fraction of her sculpting and painting abilities.

You might look at using Brettonian men at arms or archer legs with Cadian torsos and arms, and then doing some greenstuff work for the kilts.

Wow, thanks for all of the Ideas everybody! It really helps.
I looked at the Bretonnian Bowmen, and I think that they'd be great for a conversion. Also, I love Victoria's drookians.
Does anybody have an idea for heads? I don't want anything helmeted.
Also, What about legs? If nothing else, I'll just use the cadian ones.
Does anybody know where I could find a good Claymore and lots of sabres? I think that those swords would be great additions to my Clansmen.
I won't have any money to buy the required things until about a week from now, but I promise that I will post another update as soon as I've got a concept model done.

If you look at Victoria Lamb's work, it's only a single squad of Drookian Fen Guard. She's not doing 2 Troops worth. The novelty of painting tartan (or hazard stripes or camo pattern) starts to wear kinda thin when you paint your 40th or 50th guy. If she had to paint 1 HQ & 2 Troops (minimum HQ of 5, Platoon of 25 Guys, and AF of 10 guys), I doubt she'd pick Drookina Fen Guard.

That said, you'd probably do best by mixing Brettonnian heads & legs with Cadian torsos & weapons, and then just use Green Stuff for any kilts / wraps.
