So after populating Happy Acres with Pegasus buildings

http://www.pbase.com/kidkyoto/terrain&page=2

I thought I was done but then the mighty Kendoka posted this

and I realized I need a bridge.

A big bridge.

Still dry fitting it and playing with ideas.

Where are those terrain pieces from you used to fit that last picture together? Is that from one of the city fight sets?

It's another company called Pegasus, they're snap together gothic buildings.

www.thewarstore.com carries them among others.

Love it. Can't wait to see how it all turns out.

Any special scenarios you're going to write for it? Kinda reminds me of the "Inferno!" comic preview that had an ork vs. CSM battle over a massive bridge.

Guinness: for those who are men of the cloth and football fans, but not necessarily in that order.

I think the lesson here is the best way to enjoy GW's games is to not use any of their rules.--Crimson Devil

No special ideas right now I just think it will be a neat centerpeice. I have a metric oodle of 1/48 scale cars that could fill the bridge or leave it empty as a kill zone.

One question to assembled masses, right now the length of the bridge is 16". I could make the tower lower and expand it to 22", for a total length of almost 30" end to end.

Would that be too big for a normal 4'x 6' table or would that just be more fun?

That's pretty sexy. Also looks fragile.

I wanted to do something similar, but decided not to since I
leave the floors out of my Pegasus buildings to make them
easier to stack with and put minis inside. I always counted
on upper levels to have lower levels to rest minis on.

But I do want to do this.

Will you be gluing as one large piece (impossible to move
around in the real world) or in three separate pieces (less
sturdier gamewise)?

I think the 16" is fine for games like 40k. You don't want
to make it much smaller because you want those gaps
underneath and above for vehicles to traverse, have LOS
around, etc.

For Cityfight and Necromunda you can get away with
making the structure smaller.

It will be in 3 peices, I might even make a plywood base for it. I think the Pegasus bits will lock together well enough for it to hold together. I might add some supports to the bottom just to be sure.

I'll try mocking up a longer version just to see how it looks.

I'd consider glueing together and basing those 3 sections. My experience with Pegasus buildings is that as your creations get bigger and heavier, they're more likely to come apart in unforeseen ways. May not even need plywood; cork flooring tiles or masonite should do it.

Belated update, one span is more or less done and I've started the bridge.

the roof comfortably holds 20 models. The bridge will be wide enough for most 40k tanks or 2 lanes of civilian vehicles.

and the bridge is assembled.

Still not sure what to do with the top of it. Statues? Skulls? Plain?

Well I kind of moved near Toronto, actually.

statues. You should be able to find something cool you can paint as a statue. Or maybe rows of Crusaders or Space Marines standing at attention.

I've found the Inquisitor scale models are amazing statues for 28mm scale gothic architecture. A simple granite, marble or brass/copper (and verdigris) paintjob makes them great additions to scenic pieces.

I'm trying to avoid anything overtly 40k since I want to be able to use this for other games. So no skulls, no wreckage, no cliches.

Plus since I move so often I need to be able to take it apart and be sure it's durable, so I want to avoid metal/plastic mixes.

But I do have some of the GW plastics from their old 'toy box' series which are sort of generic (wizards and such). I can try them.

plastic Imperial knights from fantasy make a good decorating theme in either WHFB or 40K, especially if they're a bit aged. It'll give ya a nice chance to do some verdigris, too.

Infinity: Way, way better than 40K and more affordable to boot!
