It was 3 boxes and I used almost all of them.
I have a notion for one more building that will be 7 levels tall (the most I've done is 4) and covered with Roman statues. Not sure if I'll do it but it's tempting.

I was just thinking, if you can't find suitable miniatures (and those Romans fit nicely) there is a demi-miniatures/board game I see in toy sections that has different "eras" of heros that are used. Like "Greeks" or "Magical things" etc. Not terribly detailed, but for 5$ for 10 or so, if you stripped the paint off and repainted they might do for simple statues.
I am also thinking this might be a job for magnets! Put little metal washers or flat head screws onto the tops, and make a few different statues so if you want heavy 40k you can put the old snap together marine statues up, then when you want a more generic look you can put up spires or something else.
Looks great though. As soon as 5th edition's new building rules are in my hand, there will be a mighty bridge conceived which will rule my table!

Pretty sure you are talking about heroscape. Not bad little game. Very beer and pretzels. Some nice minis in the expansion packs.

Not a fan of the Romans- they don't feel 40k at all. That really pops out as, "One of these things doesn't belong. One of these things is not the same..."
I would think more about what felt better with gothic architecture. Statues are a great idea in general though.

I always thought heroic greco-roman statues were a staple of gothic architecture. It may look too historic for 40k but I don't think it's inappropriate.

& I'm back!
I used the bridge in two different games now and it worked well but it really needed on ramps. I planned to use the Pegasus Technobridge but it was chronically out of stock.
But I finally got mine last week!
It's a quality product, it fits together without glue, has nice metal detail and would fit into any era from the 19th century to any steampunk or SF game. It has a good texture, tanks and models stay in place even when tilted 30 degrees.
The only problem is it's a bit low, a half inch, most river segments will not fit under it.
But for this project...

This is...wow!
Very cool modelling project.
I'm also in the camp that Romans have no real place in this, if anything have bronzed space marines in their place, would fit much better IMO, but like everything someone does it is ultimately up to them.
Nice work dude!

One idea that is unnecessary, probably impractical now, and cool, would be to have the statues magnetized (as said), but to have it so they could turn, so if nobody was on the bridge, they would be facing outward, but if there were people on the bridge, they would be looking at them.
Anyway, looks like a cool project, and seems fairly practical.

Well, if I was to build this the only thing I would change would be to make it more suspension like and make the span much wider. When I think 40k and Brigde battle I think a bridge too far. And the battle sequence when all the German tanks come a roaring down the span towards the defenders on the other side. Really, give it a look.

Wow, that is great KK! I have been wanting to do a little techno bridge work to, just for the elevated firing prosition that isn't a hill or building, but this totally blows any mere walkway out of the water. You need to build some big bases for it, and two giant hills for it to connect on either side of your table, then have the bridge to fight on, and a valley too.
Of course you realize, you will never leave Red China with this board, Mr. Kyoto. One way or another, the worker's paradise will have it for their own!
And then probably use it as a bridge for cats or something.

In small gothic building #1 you get 6 small ones in gothic building set #2 you get 4 large ones. Just to build the front you need 3 of both sets and one large set. I need 2 more large sets and 4 of the other sets to build the other side. That is 4#1 and 4#2. When they release those railings I will need them too oh and yours
edit to respond to ender
Oh and ender after mine is done I am building a floor with hirst arts smooth floor tiles. It will be built in parts so the front sides and rear will separate.

I will be picking up one of the small#1 sets then. I have my own...much smaller church in the works using pegasus pieces and a few COD bits. The buttresses would be aces.
Suggestion...instead of hirst arts you should consider ACTUAL tile. A vaiety of colors, nice finished and require no more work than some spacle. Sometimes you can get remnant pieces from your local lowes or homedepot for next to nothing.

Any special scenarios you're going to write for it? Kinda reminds me of the "Inferno!" comic preview that had an ork vs. CSM battle over a massive bridge.
No special ideas right now I just think it will be a neat centerpeice. I have a metric oodle of 1/48 scale cars that could fill the bridge or leave it empty as a kill zone.
One question to assembled masses, right now the length of the bridge is 16". I could make the tower lower and expand it to 22", for a total length of almost 30" end to end.
Would that be too big for a normal 4'x 6' table or would that just be more fun?
well, this is a crazy idea but you could do it reversible.. one side has cars on it for looks and flip it over and the other side is a kill zone..
