I posted some pictures of this guy in his early stages, back when someone asked which wings to use for his flying Hive Tyrant. Well, I finally finished* him today, and since there was some interest for the wings I'd chosen, decided to post it!

*by finished I mean "still waiting for magnets to magnetize the arm sockets.

I love that tyrant! Really impressive model, which will surely have a great psychological impact on your opponents as well.

Was the model dipped? What colours did you use for it? I'm thinking of starting a new tyranid project, and I really like that scheme.

Thanks for the comments! Yeah, it's dipped. After some experimenting with blues (bad idea), I settled on the colour scheme from this tutorial, though I use a much lighter dip.

Any not-so-close frontal shots? I have a winged tyrant myself so wanted to compare. The close up shots don't show the wings well and the side view makes it hard to see whats going on. Otherwise lookin good

I play

I will magnetize (now doing LED as well) your models for you, send me a DM!

My gallery images show some of my work

That is an amazing tyrant! I love that dipped tyranid scheme and that road base is especially nice. Could you please tell me what those wings are from. They look great.

I just posted a battle report here with some more shots from further away of the tyrant, so you can get a better feel for the wings, Lormax. The wings are from a Hordes mini called "Seraph of Everblight Light Warbeast". Hope that helps!

Beautiful work really. My only problem with it is I'm a stickler for some of the fluff, and `Nids are supposed to have six limbs, not 10.

Thanks for posting up the finished product. Very nice! I'd like to see it with weapon options though!

I was the guy asking about wings and have gone a slightly different route by using the Angelius wings. I only ordered the large ones and hve decided I want the other sets (more shipping charges ftl). Dunno if it will turn out as nice as yours though.

Yeah I was thinking about that. Since wings can act as cooling mechanisms for animals, think of these more like modified vents that evolved into wings. To re-inforce this idea on my tyrant, I am gonna remove the claws from the wings and GS some mini vents.

Fluff problem solved

snoogums: "Just because something is not relavant doesn't mean it goes away completely."

Iorek: "Snoogums, you're right. Your arguments are irrelevant, and they sure as heck aren't going away."

If/when I get around to doing mine, I plan on putting Talons on the wings where the "thumbs" are.
