Here are a few tasty bits about Dark Elves. I like the one about their repeating crossbow strength going up to 4 and still moving and firing.
The army wide rule is rumoured to be +1 attack on the charge and hatred of all enemies. I like these but am not certain it will be enough, Dark Elves' biggest weakness is their toughness and lack of high strength attack afterall.
It does however make them seem quite different to other armies - which I like.
I've posted all the rest of the rumours on my blogsite below:-

Funny how these differ from the ones I posted and had to take down last week, but there is some overlap all the same. +1 attak on the charge seems excessive, hatred is enough IMO.

Sad but not surprised that chariots will no longer be 2-for-one.
Very surprised that Reaper bolt thrower will be two-for-one. No other new army book has any 2 for 1 choices, if I recall.
Good news that CoKs are losing stupidity- want to bet they become frenzied instead?
I'm going to miss killing blow on the execs.
Cheaper Dark Riders is all good.
And I find the repeater crossbow rumor hard to credit, just because rules like that, where something works one way if you move and another way if you don't, seem awkward and open to error or abuse. In general, I feel like the rules writers are trending toward simpler rules, rather than more complicated ones.

Man, I wish there was a real Black Library where I could get a Black Library Card and take out Black Library Books without having to buy them. Of course, late fees would be your soul. But it would be worth it. - InquisitorMack |

To fellblade -
Goblin Spear Chukas are still 2 for 1. Even though they are crewed by Goblins, they are still BS 3 and dirt cheap. Cheers!

For the lazy -
I cannot vouch for the accuracy of these rumours but, if true, it looks like Dark Elves are, at last, getting that much needed overhaul.
* Army Wide Special Rules: +1 Attack on the charge and Hatred.
* Black Guard - Now a Special Unit and have a stat increases similar to Swordmasters.
* Executioners - lose Killing Blow and gain a "armour piercing" saving throw modifier (-3) against Armoured foes.
* Witch elves - ASF ability + poison.
* Dark Magic Lore - New spell in the Dark Lore similar to the frenzy spell in the skaven book
* Magic Items (many changes expected - and needed !)
* Cold Ones gain +1 attack and might not to be subject to stupidity.
* Dark Riders - cheaper in points cost
* A new monster as a rare choice.
* Repeater Bolt Thrower - 2 can be taken as a cingle choice.
* Chariots - can no longer take 2 as a special choice.
* Harpies are cheaper.
* Sorceresses can suffer a wound or kill an adjacent model to gain an extra power dice.
And here's a very nice bit of news for the Dark Elf Commanders out there...
Repeating Crossbows are St4 and 2x shots if they stand still and if they move it shoots like a normal bow.

I too doubt the more powerful of these rumors. The +1 attack seems a bit unwarranted, and as pointed out already does little to remedy existing issues. The repeating xbow fix seems more likely, but is a bit complicated. Then again, the WHFB rules shy away from complexity less than 40K.
I welcome the changes to Cold One Knights, though. Heck, even the old banner that gave them one re-roll would be nice.
And chariots blew anyways. Always ended up stupid at the worst time possible.
Losing Killing blow would be a major... er, blow to Executioners. One more point of armor penetration is much less worthwhile.
Having Black Guard finally measure up to their HE counterparts would be nice.

Infinity: Way, way better than 40K and more affordable to boot!

Well, giving HE ASF did nothing to 'remedy' their issues of strength and toughness, either. I suggest that no remedy is needed- those issues are considered an inherent part of the design of the army, in the same way that dwarfs have high Ld, or goblins have low WS.
I am curious to see how these rumored changes to the DE would match up to the new HE.
Dark Elves charge- the High Elves strike first (maybe even with three ranks of spears, ouch!), but our survivors get 2 attacks back, re-rolling misses. Flank charges will be nasty.

I've heard that this was Gav Thorpe's last project, so don't look for any fixes to the army. it took him a few years to even admit that there was a problem with them in 6th edition. my first army was dark elves in 5th edition where the dark elves could go up against any army and win. 6th edition was such a let down. it was hard adjusting to the "avoid combat at all costs" tactic. i desperately wanted to buy Chris Fitzpatrick's Dark elves as they were the best looking elves GW had ever put out, but i couldn't do it. my elves eventually wound up on the shelf and later sold.
if these changes are all true, it does little to make them into tournament contenders. i would have thought with the high elves getting ASF, that their dark cousins would have got it as well, or at least something army wide and evil, like poison attacks for everyone.

When I'm in power, here's how I'm gonna put the country back on its feet. I'm going to put sterilizing agents in the following products: Sunny Delight, Mountain Dew, and Thick-Crust Pizza. Only the 'tardiest of the 'tards like the thick crust. |

Im some what inexperienced agaist dark eldar. I have only fought against them about 2 times in 3 years of gaming. Are they a weak army. Not to many people play them. Yet I dont hear too many complaints.

I have heard that playtesting is over, and the DE have emerged quite nasty. Gav apparently did acknowledge that they needed a bit of work from the 6e version.
We shall see soon enough.

Um, we're talking about Dark ELVES for FANTASY, not Dark ELDAR for 40k.
