Nope! Even Jervis has finally admitted that they could never be made to work right. The results were so wildly inconsistant that it became apparant that it would simply be better to arbitrarily decide point values and playtest to see if you got it right.

One bolter on a War Engine is practically worthless. Fifty bolters? Priceless!

I typically use the VDR to get a ball park for my ideas, then adjust fire to get a more realistic number. Though I haven't play tested anything yet, but the points made sense.

Just because anyone agrees with anyone, doesn't mean they are correct. Beware the thin line between what is "Correct" and what is "Popular."

I don't see what the real problem with them is. Design a vehicle, then remove 1/3rd of the cost that it gives you, and you have your 40K vehicle.

Well, to be fair, if you're using the rules in the spirit in which they are intended, that works fine. Many people seem to be unable to resist abusing the VDR, though.
