Okay me and a buddy just tried out our first game of HORDES i am skorne and he is legion these are the questions we came up with

1. do your beasts start with fury? and is there any way your warlock can get more fury than his fury stat says?
2. He has a move called "taint" and it turns one of my guys into an abomination (sp) can someone clear that special rule up?
3. When you kill the model you assulted do you get to do anythign else or do you just stand and wait till the next turn
4. When you charge someone and attack do they get to attack back?
5. when shooting Morghouls ranged attack called "Torment" does it automaticlly hit?
6. we were also wondering about how much terrain is used in a normal game

i think that is about it... for now haha we are playign again sunday so i will probably be back with more questions

Beasts start empty. Fury, like focus, is a cap. There are fury "battery" models in the
game where warlocks can place fury ahead of time, but I think they can only pull
fury from them at specific times (control phase or if they have a special rule)

2. He has a move called "taint" and it turns one of my guys into an abomination (sp) can someone clear that special rule up?

Abomination forces models within 3" to take terror checks, friendly or enemy model. As for
other parts of the rule, I defer to the battle college:

"
Taint: There's a lot of text to this spell, but what it boils down to is that you can combine it with Bad Blood to force an opponent to take damage pulling Fury off a Warbeast or risk it attacking the Tainted model. There are a several other dirty tricks with this spell.

You can cast and upkeep Taint on a member of a unit of warriors. This forces the warriors to make their CMD check against Abomination every turn you upkeep this spell. All that, and your opponent's Warbeasts will attack that warrior if they Frenzy."

3. When you kill the model you assulted do you get to do anythign else or do you just stand and wait till the next turn

Stand and wait. There's no consolidation move.

4. When you charge someone and attack do they get to attack back?

No.

Warmachine/Hordes is ugoigo in the strictest sense. The only things you get to do on
your opponent's turn are rules specific, like Bane Knight shadowshift or Circle Vigilance.

5. when shooting Morghouls ranged attack called "Torment" does it automaticlly hit?

Spells don't automatically hit an opposing model unless the description says it does. I
can't think of one that does at this time. Also, since Morghul is low fury you probably
don't want to try to use it too often.

6. we were also wondering about how much terrain is used in a normal game

Here's a link to Steamroller maps:

And check out the league maps for a sense of scenario terrain setups:
http://www.privateerpress.com/dispatch/08-tours/main.php?tour=2&week=7&lang=en

Otherwise, standard terrain set up is to alternate terrain placement. No terrain in
deployments. No terrain feature within 3" of another except (I think) when placed
on a hill. Terrain placement ends when one player decides not to place terrain and
the second player gets to place one more piece.

Malfred got all of them, but I think he wasn't thorough enough on this one.

Torment is an offensive spell, not a ranged attack. When casting an offensive spell, you use your warlocks FURY stat as the attack stat. You know how a melee attack is MAT+2d6? Spells are FURY+2d6. And that's his base FURY stat, not how many Fury points are on him currently. In Morghoul's case, it's a 5, which is low. Fortunately, you can boost the attack and damage rolls in the same manner as boosting melee or ranged attacks. Also, Spells have to deal with the target's DEF modifiers per ranged attacks (concealment, elevation, etc.), but sacrificing your movement will NOT get you the Aiming Bonus.

Also remember that your warlock starts with his full Fury, so he can be casting on Turn 1.

Terrain is generally sparse, with maybe 2 woods, 2 hills, 2 walls, and a building or two for terrain. But, it's also only a 4x4 table, so it goes a lot further.

When your model charges and destroys its charge target, it's activation does not end. The model cannot make any ranged attacks, because you can't mix melee and ranged attacks in the same turn. If you have additional melee attacks, and a target in melee range (1/2 inch or 2 inches with reach), you can make them. If it's your warlock, they can cast spells or use their feat after the charge. I hope that makes sense.
