Here's what I have in mind.

Right now my army is missing a few things. More Wild Riders, 2 Glade Riders
to fill out a second unit, Eagles, more Treemen, and special characters (this
is my collect everything Fantasy army. Now I could buy the following:

1 box of Glade Riders
2-3 Eagles through Direct Services (doubles as useful for high elves)
1 box of Wild Riders

So here's what I intend to buy instead.

1 box of Glade Riders
4 Warhawk riders

Build two Glade Riders, leaving six horses. These Glade Riders will be one musician
and one standard glade rider.

Build the Warhawks without riders (4 Eagles total)

Use the warhawk rider torsos and putty them to the glade rider legs on
the remaining horses (4 Wild Riders!)

Use remaining glade rider torsos, but use left over bits from a high elf box
to form a musician and maybe the bannerman.

I should get 6 Wild Riders, 2 Glade Riders and 4 Eagles out of this. Worth it?

I'm not too great at conversions, so I thought this might be the easiest
way to do it.

the only problem i see is the warhawk riders.

the warhawks themselves are first alot smaller than the great eagles.

and secondly have alot of toher stuff, vines, and head covers that would have to be shaved off and redone to make em look like great eagles.

you would have to sculpt alot of feathers and probably the entire head again if you wanted to make them look like the eagles.

if your not to good with greenstuff this will be a challenge. I would personnally continue the wild rider idea, but just buy 2 great eagles.

you shouldnt need 4 great eagles neway, they compete with treeman and waywatchers which are both good. I normally take only one if i dont have the points for a treeman or waywatchers, but still ahve the rare slot left over. If you ever wanted to use four it would be in a 4000pt game, and you would be losing treeman and waywatchers, both useful units in thier own right.

Sounds like a good plan to me, except that WE can only get two Eagles as they're one per Rare slot.

Also I think it would be an issue if you ever wanted to field warhawks in the same army, as they'd look the same.

I am all about WE armies as they look awesome in army form.

I know nothing of fantasy though so I'll leave my comments at that until the modeling and painting begins ^_-.

actually, since in fantasy your limits on unit types rise (1 rare slot per 1000 points) as points get higher you could potentially field as many as you wanted.

The base size works, would it help for the warhawk to be without its
rider?

I'm no auspex, so do eagles look that much different?

Hrm, I have a very strict no-green stuff modeling policy. I'll have
to reconsider my plans.

I just refuse to order anything direct.

Well I kind of moved near Toronto, actually.

I saw a really cool eagle someplace. I think it was a Reaper mini.

Might be too big, I don't know. That, and I am not really reading the thread i know i am bhad.

but it's a cool eagle.

that, and your multi-purpose multi-army, multi-elvy thing sounds like an OK idea.

There are a lot of cool eagles out there. Unfortunately I
play Fantasy in a GW store, so I'd like to have GW
sculpts for it.

Maybe I'll just stick to multiple Treeman for GW shop
gaming and then blame modeling policies for my beardy
army.

makes sense to me. I can't believe you can actually take a giant Tree-monster as your General. That is just win.

I have eagles in my HE army and hawks in my WE army and I dont think there is much differnce size wise. I can take a comparison pic if you like?

I've had those eagles a while now though so maybe the new ones are different. The direct only one looks quite big.

I dont think any of them are approaching Gwarhir size though.

You need to stretch your wallet a little more to fit more
of these minis.
