Subject: What would a boarding torpedo look like?

I was thinking of scratch building one for sh**s & giggles. I was thinking of starting off with a 10" section of PVC piping for the main cabin (would fit a 10-man section of marines), and a shorter rear section for the engine, which would probably have short stubby fins and a number of hoses and nozzles. Main section would have exit doors on either side and imperial eagle/chapter symbol on the top.
What to do for the front though. I was thinking of capping it with a larger piece of PVC to represent the adamantine nose, but how do boarding torpedos actually blast through the hull of an enemy ship. Simply smashing through the hull would probably be lethal to the cargo, so you'd need some sort of a blasting charge. You could slow a torpedo down, grapple, then blast through with a melta charge, or you could put a vortex charge on the end of a spar to blow a hole on contact, which the rest of the torpedo would muscle through.
Thoughts and suggestions?

I always liked the ones from halo. The latch on and a hole is bored into the hull of the enemy ship. Or you could do the brute force one but have a force dampener system on the nose.
Hoped that helped,

I've always imagined spaceship to spaceship boarding craft would attach themselves by electro magnets to the enemy hull. Then it would use a series of welding torches rotating in a large circle to quickly cut through the enemy bulkhead. In addition, some sort of gasket or sealing system closed any potential gaps between the boarding gate and the enemy vessel to prevent catastrophic atmosphere loss that could cause casualties among both the boarders and the enemy. Once the hull was breached, some sort of ram or directed explosive charge would blow the separated portion of hull outward, helping provide the boarders with an element of surprise and potentially catching enemy crew in the blast.

I could show you what the thrusting power of a boarding torpedo penetrating the spintcher of a tyranid ship looks like.
But it's a family wargame.

turn the nose cone into a bloody huge drill so the torpedo slams into the craft, drilling a gaping hole in its side (at least thats the way orkses would do it lol)
for a marine craft, i could easily imagine a complex system of meltas/plasma cannons boring a hole then the torpedo clamps on and seals the area before the front explodes into the interior of the craft, marines coming afterwards in the smoke and fire etc for cover. so it would be a sort of stubby, rounded off cone with numerous meltas or whatever in a circle on arms around it, plus several grappling arms (think of the drillbots from matrix movies (cant remember which one) but with cutting torches instead of drill, but then again why not a drill)

I'm thinking that Space Marines may not really care if the breach site is sealed, after all, it would benefit them not to have it sealed as they are in power armor and their opponents would more likely not be (at least not all of them)

if you read some of the horus heresy books, they describe them as having tank treads along the length of them. Once the torpedo hits and penetrates, the tracks kick in and haul the torpedo through the outer hull and bulkheads until it reaches a space open enough to disembark the marines.

hmm, maybe instead of "tank tracks" it could have like really big blades or claws instead.

There are boarding torpedoes in the Firewarrior (Yes, I know many people lambast the game) computer game in one of the missions.
They're great big "torpedoes" with cutting heads and a long cable attached to the rear (for recovery), as they are both a way of getting troops into a boarding action AND a way of getting your ship closer to theirs to get more troops in.

boarding torpedoes are cool. They would have to have lots of mass dampening inside. BRACE FOR IMPACT. There are Justice League eps with boarding torpedoes, drilly ones.

In BFG, I think boarding torps (or was it shark assault boats?) are described as having magnetic(presumably they use Iron or some other ferro-mag material to construct space vessels...) clambs on the front end with meltabombs at the very front that explode on contact, creating a breach.
