I came across a copy of the new 5th addition rule book and I notices something very interesting on two of the pages. Its on page 260 and 261 of the new rule book. It clearly shows a picture of some new looking IG models, and Orks. You quickly notice that the posses are different, and they seem to have alot more attention to detail. They almost look like forgeworld models with the goggles on top of their helmets. I love how the guys have a mean gritty vet look to them. I'm hoping this was a sneak peak look at what their cooking up for the new IG models. If not, what do you guys think. Also, read the new rule book from cover to cover. It really does make the game a hole lot of fun. 5th is going to be great, don't let the rumors scare you.

Those are conversions done by one of the GW staff, for the Mordant Sky-Rats. They're nice, but now actual model kits =/.

It's a mix of Catachan and Cadian parts, with pouches from Space Marines glued on the shoulderpads.

Just remebered whose it is!

Adrift within the vortex of my imagination.

Important though, as it shows GW are endorsing 'home basing' standards for IG heavy weapons - at least by the back door.

n'oublie jamais - It appears I now have to highlight this again.

I'm pretty sure those helmets are from the Cadian Sentinel driver. If you notice they seem kinda small for the body.

Today I didn't even have to use my hot-shot las; I gotta say it was a good day.

Yeah, that is interesting that they are not showing pics of "properly" based models in a rulebook. I really like how they look. Someone should do a kit up for them.

Huh? MLs have been properly based on individual 25mm bases ever since I've been playing Guard.

I dunno JohnHwnagDD. I've got a kit for Cadian Heavy weapons teams that came with 40mm round bases, supposed to mount 2 guys to a base.

Yeah, but the IG FAQ state "Heavy weapon teams are supplied with a large base to contain both crewmen and the weapon. Treat them as two separate models that are based together for convenience of movement."

The classic models all had the guardsmen based separately from each other and their weapons (except the missile launcher, which is shoulder held). http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?catId=cat1110133&prodId=prod1130442 I always took this as meaning that the large base is completely optional. Its just easier and I think you can make a more attractive and dynamic pose using the large base.

Not everyone started their guard army with the metal range,
so I'm guessing quite a few are more familiar with the
plastic singly based heavy weapons.

But the old metal ones did have a loader figure. Kinda miss those.

Not the heavy weapons basing thing again...please!

When I saw the pics of the IG in the pic (yeah, back
on-topic), I couldn't imagine what those things on their
shoulders could be EXCEPT Space Marine belt pounches.
They're too small to be flak armor, too pouchy to be
'munitions.I suppose they could be a satchel of grenades,
but that conversion is really reliant on paint for it to come
across well.

My bust. I was under the impression that JHDD was indicating that ONLY 25mm was "proper". I apologize to Dakka and to Greebynog in particular, whom I seem to have accidentally traumatized with my newbness. Just in case anyone thinks Iam being a sarcastic jerkwad; nope, that was sincere.
