I know nearly nothing about resin and i just got some new FW DKoK models and was wondering what i should do to combat the resin toxic behavior and what glues will adhere to it.

Wash them througly with some dish soap and let them air dry throughly. You can use superglue to put em together

And so, due to rising costs of maintaining the Golden Throne, the Emperor's finest accountants spoke to the Demigurg. A deal was forged in blood and extensive paperwork for a sub-prime mortgage with a 5/1 ARM on the Imperial Palace. And lo, in the following years the housing market did tumble and the rate skyrocketed leaving the Emperor's coffers bare. A dark time has begun for the Imperium, the tithes can not keep up with the balloon payments and the Imperial Palace and its contents, including the Golden Throne, have fallen into foreclosure. With an impending auction on the horizon mankind holds its breath as it waits to see who will gain possession of the corpse-god and thus, the fate of humanity...... |

I like Simple green for cleaning resin. Soak it for about 10 minutes and scrub it with an old tooth brush.
If your going to use a file, dip the item in a bowl of water. It will cut down on the dust. Don't pour the toxic water in the sink.
Super glue works fine for assembly.
Use Car Primer for the base coat. I like Dupli-Color sandable primer.

While I prefer dish soap, myself (cheaper and you don't have to make a special trip to get it (hopefully. LOL), everything else here is great advice.
I'd also like to stress that he said "Sandable Primer." You do NOT want the expanding primer that will fill in gaps. It will reduce the detail visible on your model.

I've been lurking the forums for a while, but I like to help if I can. I've recently completed my first FW resin model and went through a great amount of difficulty dealing with resin. Here is a guide I assembled which deals with some of the aspects of working with resin.

Great article there jabbakahut. We have a slightly similar article here about building a FW revenant titan, but I was wondering if you might be willing to copy your article into our articles system too as we would love to have it hosted here!

I considered doing that, but gave up figuring out how to do that after a couple minutes. Is it easy to do? I mean, I've already made it into a PDF, I'm not going to spend a great deal of time trying to break it down into a thread. I saw that Eldar titan one, mighty impressive. I'm thinking about doing another one for my Reaver titan I pre-ordered (if it ever gets here, and after my next guide on building terrain).

Do you have the individual images and copy-pasteable text as well as the PDF? It is very easy to do the basics, and then one of our article moderators will happily go in and clean up formatting for you. Just go here: http://www.dakkadakka.com/wiki/en/Special:Add and paste in the text, then click on the 'Click to load the image uploader/manager' button to upload the images. Finally click 'Save' on the article and we can do the rest Feel free to PM me if you need any help.
Shank911, sorry for the brief thread hijack!

Thanks for the info, I'll keep that in mind the next one I make. But if you saw the one I did, it's got over 200 photos and over 12,000 words. Not an easy copy and paste job!

I tend not to worry about resin dust, work in a well ventilated area and use wet sandpaper to cut down on dust flying up. I prefer to whittle at the resin with a knife and only to a little rubbing down afterwards. The only thing I would take particular care with is *sawing* up resin. You may have to do that to remove particularly large chunks of resin that were part of the feed in the mould, like the sprue in the plastic kit. Sawing up resin tends to send clouds of the stuff everywhere.
Painting may be complicated, I assume GW paints work ok, but others may not. It's best to keep the undercoat and surface paints the same type, eg enamel or water-based, and choose your primer carefully, I've seen some very funny reactions with resin models where paint blisters or never dries. Odd stuff.

I use dishsoap and an old mdium toothbrush for cleaning th mould release off resin. It seems to work, and even "keys" the surface to help with paint/glue adhesion.
I sand with wet/dry sandpaper and generally have the surface slightly damp to reduce the amount of dust flying around.
I saw with a small razor saw slowly and carefully (but generally in my spraybooth, which has an extractor that can catch brass dust, so resin just goes "Whooshka!" and away. This deals with gates and vents.
Superglue or 5 minute epoxy to glue the pieces (in many cases, pinning is also useful). In both cases, it is essential to "key" the gluing surfaces as neither glue like a smooth surface. Keying simply refers to enlarging the "surface area" by slightly roughing up the surface with a fine grain sandpaper.
I prime with an automotive primer (I have an auto supplier around the corner) and it sticks with no issues (provided the model is cleaned properly) - it also gives the paint something better to adhere to.
Paint is generally a thinned "model grade" acrylic through an airbrush. (or will be when I get my compressor rig re-set up).

I agree with the automotive primer. I had problems priming with the GW stuff. I ended up trying and rejecting 4 different primers before I found one that worked well.
You know how they normally tell you to try an inconspicuous area first? And you usually blow that off? I ended up having to strip a primed titan because I was stupid.
